"Just found out the hard way: Whismur is still in the ditto pool."

#PokemonGO: I was out for a walk trying to catch my 3 whismur during the “partly cloudy” weather. Walked 10 km and not a single spawn! Towards the end I see a whismur on the radar at a stop which is about 2 km out of the way. When I get there and catch the whismur to my dismay it transforms into a ditto.
