"Question About OSM Data and Spawns"

#PokemonGO: After seeing some recent articles about the way the game currently uses OSM data, there is a question that has been bugging me. We know that water features increase the chance of certain spawns, but has there been any research done on the specific mechanics of this? For example, how close to the edge of a water feature does a spawn point need to be to be affected? Is it a hard cutoff or is there a gradient effect?P.S. Having not played in awhile, I'm a bit out of the loop on what spawns are good indicators of an actual water biome. In the early days, certain spawns like magicarp were reliable indicators since they almost never spawned in non-water biomes (vs things like shelder or psyduck that could spawn anywhere). What are the telltales to use now that the gen 1 spawns are less common? via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/34Hi3lk
