"Do people realize that Dexit isn't the main issue? Like, at all?"

Dexit is not the main issue that Sword and Shield have.To all the defenders of SwSh who just use the same "I dont bring my past poke.on anyway and just use whats in the game, so these will be the same as any other pokemon game for me." You are missing the point. While Dexit is the straw that broke the camel's back, and finally made people realize for a moment how SwSh were shaping up, the real reason myself and many others i have talked to are pissed about SwSh is quite deeper then just Dexit. The games look like 3DS Ports. The expectation for a game series moving from handheld to a much more powerful console is that the new games will make use of that new power and make changes. From what we have seen of the trailers(and before anyone pipe up with "We haven't seen the final game yet" Trailers are supposed to be the selling point for a game, showing the game at its best".) The games have made no strides to change the formula or innovate in any meaningful way.Battles still play out as static fights with no real movement or animation. They STILL look worse then Pokemon Coliseum and XD. The overworld is still devoid of anything. Just random NPCs just standing in a single spot doing nothing and pokemon randomly appearing from nowhere. There is very stong evidence that these games have just copy/pasted assets from the 3DS games. From all the IDENTICAL Pokemon models and Animations, to the Rival using Hau's exact "Excited" animations, and even the pokemon walking animations from SuMo.And the thing that makes it all worse, it the fact that Gamefreak expressly stated that the reason for the Dexit culling was to improve animations. Which as we have seen, was a complete lie.SwSh's contemporaries make it look bad.Segwaying from no.1, we look at all the other DS/3DS franchises that moved to Switch or the other Consoles.Dragon Quest. DQ9 was a DS game, while it had some fantastic qualities the nature of the DS held it back greatly. Battles were stiff with relatively simple animations, the overworld was very flat with no real variation of terrain and segemented into several small areas that required loading. All the character models were also chibi styled with simple designs and animations. And then the series moved to home consoles with Dragon Quest 11. It overhauled almost everything from the DS. Maps were larger and almost seemless, teeming with life, quest givers, and monsters that interacted with the world. They added voice acting. Character models were now Full sized with much more detailed designs and animations. Battles were revamped and given different forms of combat, with the ability to move your character for atleast the sense of more active combat. They innovated in quite a few aspects and took advantage of the Switches added power to make a modern AAA game.Monster Hunter, Fire Emblem, Zelda, and Mario have all seen significant changes like these aswell. Meanwhile SwSh continue to do effectively nothing. They cut Megas and Z-moves for Dynamaxing, its effectively the same thing. Battles are still the exact same as they have been since Red and Blue. The core gameplay loop is also the exact same as Red and Blue. But this brings me to...The Price and Versions(And Ultra)These games have no reason to be $60. At all. What are we getting in SwSh to warrent an extra $20? Because from the way I see it, those that are buying these games are paying an extra $20 for less content then in USUM. The confirmed Total Dex number in SwSh is 400. There were 403 in the regional dex in USUM. Meanwhile USUM still had access to the Nat Dex's additional 400+ pokemon. So already, Paying more for less content. But it gets worse. The Galar region is also much smaller then Alola just by going off of the main maps. And according to the SwSh leaker, SwSh are only about 30 hours long including post game content(that there is only about 2 hours of) meanwhile the average time to beat just the main story of USUM is about 40-50 hours, plus an additional 10 or so worth of postgame content. So in short:SwSh-$60 for 400 Pokemon and 30 hours of game.USUM-$40 for 800+ Pomemon and 50 hours of game. And to add to that, why do we in 2019 still need 2 versions of the same game? This is a criticism of the series as a whole as of late. Just why? Atleast games like Fire Emblem Fates different versions had dramatically different gameplay and stories to justify their split into multiple versions. And they even gave you significant discounts for buying the other versions if you owned one already.Pokemon though? Same exact game, story, everything. With the exception that they replace the legendary and 3 or so pokemon lines between versions. Meanwhile you can obtain said pokemon through GTS within minutes anyway, making the difference null. So the only reason they do it is to prey on the superfans who, just like buying SwSh, will buy any flaming dumptruck with the Pokemon Logo etched on the side.Technical PerformanceThese games run poorly. Going off the trailers, the games look to run at 20fps at all times. With even bigger dips in the Wild area and Raid battles. For a $60 AAA game made in the highest grossing franchise on the freaking planet, that's unacceptable. Add to that the low draw distance, popin, and poor environment textures it just makes these games look incredibly rushed and/or low effort.TLDR: These games are ultimately underwhelming and we should expect more. Especially when they are charging more money for them then past games while also cutting content. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2oXn3lH
