"First-hand experience: The Wild Area is Underwhelming."

I'm playing the game, so this isn't based on watching a stream or anything. This was kind of the one thing still interesting about the game to me, and now that I've seen it, it's not that impressive. If you've played something like Xenoblade chronicles 2, the entire wild feels smaller than one of the more explorable titans, with none of the real explorability/verticality due to your own limited movement options. There's nothing really there to explore, you just run to the beams of light. The higher level pokemon aren't rare or special occurrences, there always seems to be one nearby you can just circumvent. And pokemon don't do anythng behaviorally interesting that makes me want to see them either, they just waddle around the overworld not really interacting with anything. The wild dynamaxed pokemon don't feel special either since they can apparently be pretty common/normal pokemon. Like, my first battle was a Togepi. They're also not very hard, and for reasons I don't understand, on top of being 4 vs 1, pokemon also auto-revive after a 2-3 turns. They were built up as crazy raid-boss battles, but if this were an MMO, it'd be like stumbling onto a "boss" that's just an upscaled version of a common mob that goes down almost as easily. The only feature it looked like they put effort into, well... they did... but poorly.Raid bosses should be super-rare pokemon, should spawn sparsely and feel grand. And more than that, they should feel special to the area they spawn. Togepi spawned in a snowy area around a bunch of ice pokemon. The next one was a Xatu that spawned around another group of ice pokemon.Edit: Random Observations, because I don't feel like making a separate post. So, I've come to the conclusion, Raid battles are insulting. I outright hate them so far. It took me 25-30 minutes to jump 10 levels because they drop so many exp boosting items. And I was already curb stomping every trainer in my path with minimal effort. I did 1 lap around the starting area of the wild, and jumped up 10 levels on exp boosting items alone, not counting the levels from actual battle. And dynamaxed raid boss pokemon aren't all that tough. With type advantage, you can probably KO most of them on the first turn. I didn't even dynamax and still won on the first turn by using assurance on a psychic type. You'd think a raid boss would be tankier but this is a joke.Fuck whomever composed the raid battle music and by extension whomever showed them the synth drum button on their keyboard. Not only is the pop-in not great, but the way pokemon actually spawn on the map is dumb looking. They just pop out of the ground like diglett. You'll just be walking and suddenly a Bewear will shoot up out of nowhere. It's not just suddenly rendered, it comes from the ground. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2qGU6ek
