"PSA: The Regis were designed for Rocket Leader battles. Don't trash them."

#PokemonGO: tl;drUsing pvp techniques like shield baiting, faming and energy management can help you win against Rocket LeadersWith Lock-on, the Regis charge hard hitting moves very fast and are often super-effective against Rocket pokemon.Regice is great against Cliff, Registeel is great against Sierra and Regirock is great against Arlo.Use a Flygon to bait shields against the first pokemon, switch to a Regi as soon as shields are down, charge as much energy by farming the first pokemon. The Regis can resist the fast moves of each first line-up pokemon. While second moves are preferred for coverage, you can probably get away with a single move on each of the Regis and have a contingency if the pokemon it isn't super-effective against appears. With Lock-on, the Regis can now charge hard hitting moves incredibly quickly. These aren't just useful for pvp, but can also be used against the Rocket Leaders. You can see the Rocket Leader line-ups in this infographic.Since Rocket Leaders will use 2 shields, you can lead with a pokemon like Flygon that charges very fast (8 seconds to Dragon Claw with Mud Shot as the fast move) to bait shields. Rocket Leaders shield every charge move, so you can trick them into wasting their shields on low damage charge moves. Then bring out a Regi to wipe out the hard hitters.CliffA Regice with Lock-on can charge Blizzard in just 14 seconds and Earthquake in 12 seconds. Blizzard does super-effective damage to 4/6 of the 2nd and 3rd lineups, neutral damage to another (Snorlax) and Earthquake does super-effective damage to the last (Infernape).Regice does lack resistances (and is weak to Infernape), so there are some tricks that will help you survive longer. Don't kill Meowth with Flygon - fire your 2 dragon claws, then switch to Regice immediately. You can switch while you are using your last Dragon Claw. Save your charge moves for the 2nd and 3rd pokemon. Since your fast move does relatively low damage, you may be able to charge a lot of energy before Meowth dies ("farming" in pvp parlance). Regice resists scratch (but not bite), so you can survive longer than against Meowth. You may to have a move pre-charged before you kill the 2nd pokemon. You can charge up to 100 energy, so when you fight the 2nd pokemon wait for your Blizzard to be charged then use another 10 lock-ons before using you kill the 2nd pokemon with Blizzard. You'll have enough energy for EarthquakeSierraA Registeel with Lock-on can charge Focus Blast in 13 secs and Flash Cannon in 12 seconds. Focus Blast is super-effective against Lapras and Houndoom while Flash Cannon is super-effective against Gardevoir and neutral against Hypno, Alakazam and Sableye.Registeel resists Psychic, Ice and Fairy, so it resists Sneasel (neutral damage from feint attack), Hypno, Lapras (neutraal damage from water gun), Alakazam and Gardevoir (neutral from charge beam)'s fast moves. It is weak to fire, so again you may want to charge a Focus Blast before you kill the 2nd pokemon.ArloRegirock with Lock-on can charge stone edge in 11 secs and focus blast in 13 seconds. (It also has Zap Cannon, but that's not the idea moveset). Stone edge is super effective against Gyarados, Crobat, Charizard (x2) and Dragonite, and neutral to Scizor. Focus Blast is super effective against Magnezone. While Regirock can resist Scyther (neutral damage from fury cutter), Crobat and Charizard, it can be weak to Gyarados' Waterfall - a high damage fast move on a 2nd lineup pokemon. That's why its particularly important to charge a stone edge by farming Scyther before you fight the 2nd pokemon just in case its Gyarados.Rocket Leader battles aren't available in Australia yet, so I must confess I haven't been able to test these strategies myself. The Regis may not be the most effective ways to beat the Rocket Leaders, but many people will have them and may not need to be powered up too much.Hat tip to u/skewtr for his excellent summary of the Rocket Leader battles.Edit: As I said, the Regis are only one way to beat the Rocket leaders. Its an option open to you if you want to take it. Many have suggested using existing raid pokemon like Dialga. They will certainly work, but I dont have a maxed out Dialga. Where I live, there are so many raiders I dont need a maxed out raid team.I reckon you can use the Regis at level 20 or 25, freshly caught from a gym. But I cant try it till its out in Australia. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/32p8tkx
