"Sword and Shields story would be so much better if YOU were Hop and Bede was the main Rival."

Imagine your first rival battle Vs Bede except he kicks your arse and demolishes you then rubs it in your face, stating that your brothers name would mean less since you’re so weak. The journey becomes about YOU trying to beat Bede for legitimate interpersonal and self fulfilling reasons. You would feel more attached to Leon too, and see him as your brother instead of an awkward family friend.Your player character does NOTHING throughout the story, it’s abysmal. I’m not saying we would have to literally become Hop, rather, assume his role in the story. It would be so much better.Right now I feel like a faceless voiceless nothingness when they were so close to having a very compelling story for the player, and not for Hop.This would also alleviate player issues with Hop being intrusive or annoying. Instead of him saying, “I ShOuLd HaVe KnOwN yOu HaVe MaStErEd TyPiNg” it would be Bede pissing you off and compelling you to push yourself, one of the main goals of Pokémon.Pokémon is about the trainer and YOU. I don’t care about Hop, he missed the mark by 10 miles, but if we were Hop, I would love the story and it would be the Pokémon story we deserve. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2Odw0AZ
