"Warning: don't update to 0.163"

#PokemonGO: Title says it all. Yesterday I updated Pokémon GO on my Android phone to 0.163 and I noticed there's one bug that has been fixed: the annoying wait when selecting a team or filtering down in the search screen.However... there's a bunch of issues with this update, a huge amount. So much that it's the first time I felt it necessary to downgrade and grab the previous APK.Just to name what I've come across personally:AR+ doesn't workAR+ setting header is a string instead of an actual header (very minor issue, but still)Buddy distance doesn't update the same way egg distance does (it registers less)0*-4* search strings don't workFast catching keeps the Pokémon on the overworld, even when selecting it again you seem to be able to catch it again, even after you've verified it's in your storage. It takes a minute or longer for the Pokémon to disappearColor issues on some shiny PokémonMaster league team(s) get removed after you used it in a Team Rocket battle (I've created that team for a reason!)Edit: found another one: upon trading, it still remembers the search string, but the screen is almost completely white after the first trade and for each trade after it, I've got to drag the screen downwards a bit to show the Pokémons. No scrolling needed, they aren't off-screen, just not rendered at all. Once you draw the screen downwards a bit, it shows them instantly.Edit 2: found an old bug: just for 'fun' I installed the update on my iPhone 8 Plus and they've reinstated the old bug where the ball and encountered Pokémon are very small. This was something that they did like 10-15 versions ago and it took them a couple of updates to fix. It's impossible to throw an Excellent throw in this situation and even a great throw has become a challenge. My son uses the same form factor iPhone (6s Plus) and he used to complain about this a lot, so I now told him to wait with the update until he can no longer wait. When asked why and told him about this, he was like "what?! not again?! ugh!".So these are at least 6 serious issues that all broke since the update. I sincerely hope Niantic doesn't force the update soon now the iOS version has arrived in the App Store as well, because I won't be playing with this version until a new one comes out.I hate to say it like this, but I feel like it should be mentioned and I hope someone from Niantic is reading this: their update process is terrible, there seems to be no quality check at all and even worse: there doesn't even seem to be a second person reviewing the other's code. How else can you explain that extremely simple stuff such as a textual header or search strings break? It's going from bad to worse and it literally makes the whole game a frustration instead of an enjoyment. And still Niantic is cashing hundreds of millions of dollars each year and they can't even keep the game running without these bugs each and every time? Talking about a bunch of incompetent and greedy people.Edit 2: based on the additional bugs I've found I'm completely done with this game. I also feel it's a shame still so many people seem to comment that they are "fine with it" or "those are only visual bugs" or anything along those lines. I get that initially this is a free game, but a lot of people spend money, it's a billion dollar business for Pokémon GO alone, plus the time and effort people have spent in this game and the data they've provided to Niantic by doing so is a payment as well, just not monetary. Google works the same: the search engine, Gmail and YouTube are free (mostly) because of data they gather of you, which again is a kind of payment method. Therefore you can also expect some kind of competence and approval process, yet there isn't any or Niantic only has fully incompetent employees. Nobody should be alright with this. For me, the frustration and constant back-and-forth between issues is not worth it anymore. I've uninstalled Pokémon GO and I'm even thinking about having my Pokémon GO account deleted permanently as to not tempt me back somehow, someday. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/35vckin
