"[PSA] Guide to beneficial Rocket bugs/glitches: Shinies, IVs and birds, oh my!"

#PokemonGO: https://ift.tt/36z4BQQ are currently a number of beneficial bugs and glitches relating to Rocket battles, ranging from the ability to re-roll shininess, change IVs or catch the encounter Mon multiple times. Unfortunately there is also a lot of secrecy around them, since many would prefer to exploit in secret than share the knowledge in case Niantic fixes anything. This has resulted in a big gap between those who have been using the bugs for a while and those who still aren't aware of them. I'm hoping that listing everything here will help clear up misinformation, spread the word to people in smaller communities and help level the playing field.1. Rocket Leader encounter re-rolling The big glitch, and one that has picked up a bit of attention lately. If you beat a Rocket Leader and choose to flee from the encounter, you can return after an hour and trigger a reset of the encounter by interacting with a nearby Pokemon (you don't even need to catch it, just clicking is enough). The new encounter will have IVs and shininess independent of the one you encountered previously and will be boosted (or unboosted) depending on the current weather. This can be repeated every hour (counting from the previous reset, NOT initial defeat of the Leader) until you get the results you want. Other grunts and leaders can also be defeated during this process, meaning you can potentially have multiple encounters lined up for re-checking.Note: Though the encounter resets hourly, you need to interact with a wild Pokemon after the hour to trigger it (or catch a Mon from your research stack, as found by u/mybham). Actions taken between 1 to 59 minutes do not cause a re-roll, but also do not prevent future re-rolls after an hour, so just play normally. This seems to have led to some confusion around the reset time.2. Rocket Decoy Grunt species re-roll https://ift.tt/36tlxIo Basically the same mechanism as above, but since Decoy Grunt encounters draw from a pool of multiple species, the species itself can be rerolled along with all other stats. Useful if you are seeking a specific species.3. Double-catch Shadow Legendaries https://ift.tt/2twKHaG As with Leaders, returning to Giovanni after an hour will reroll the Pokemon that you encounter. However, if you use the quick catch method on the new encounter (and have fast enough fingers), you may be able to initiate a second encounter once you return to the map by quickly clicking on the Pokestop. This gives you the chance to catch a second Shadow Legendary. Some people are now in possession of six Shadow Birds as a result.4. Shadow Bird carry-over Not technically a bug, but if you obtain a Giovanni radar and carry it in to the next month, you can use two radars in one month for two chances at that month's Legendary (obviously this means you will miss out on the previous month's creature). Combine with the double-catch tip above to catch four of the same shadow Legendary. Perfect if Giovanni ever gets a Raikou! So there you have it. I'm fully expecting this to get downvoted to oblivion by those who want these bugs to stay secret, but hopefully it will get word out to a few more players. Please share any tips or observations you have! via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2QvR2vK
