With the introduction of Pokémon Home, and the movement of Pokémon to the switch, I feel like it’s unnecessary and ridiculous that you still need to pay to use Pokémon bank. If you want to transfer over your Pokémon from, say, Ultra Sun, to Pokémon sword, not only do you have to pay for Pokémon home, but you also have to pay to use Pokémon bank to transfer TO Pokémon home.
