"Mega evolutions by type #5. Double issue. Poison and Electric."
#PokemonGO: DisclaimerThe stats of mega evolutions are calculated in accordance to the current formulas for transferring stats from the main game series to Pokemon GO (i.e., they are only approximate and may change slightly in the actual release). Movepool of a mega evolution is the same as the movepool of their previous form. All simulations were carried out for Pokemon level 40, 15/15/15, extreme weather, 10% friendship bonus.LegendFAQQ: Do you know that {pokemon name} will be even better than one of those you are talking about?A: Yes, I know. I will definitely write something about it when the time comes. If you want to see a specific type in the next post, or to find the result of some Pokemon versus some boss, you can just ask me.Q: How can you know ahead of time that players will be allowed to have more than one mega evolution in a raid group?A: I don’t know. I'm just trying to do a detailed analysis of each mega evolution, categorizing them by type. Mega Evolutions are great, but they don't break raids, they only make them easier. If they limit number of megas to one per group, then mega evolutions will not affect raids AT ALL. Let's take an example. Let' say a party consisting of one specific mega evolution allows you to deal 5% more damage to a boss than in the case of an usual Pokemon. Then one mega evolution allows you to deal about 5 / (from 10 to 18)% more damage, which is 0.5% at best. Will it be noticeable? No, isn't it? So let's hope that there will be no restrictions, or they will not be so severe.IntroductionToday's post is special, today I will tell you about Poison and Electric types. One post, two types, could you ever imagine it? :)PoisonThe poison type is the most exotic type in Pokemon GO. Poison type Pokemon are not used in raids, and very rarely find their use in PvP.With the introduction of mega evolutions, 3 new evolutions of this type will appear in the game: Mega Gengar, Mega Beedrill, Mega Venusaur. Mega Gengar and Mega Beedrill, as mentioned in previous posts, are typical glass cannons, while Mega Venusaur is a more balanced Pokemon with a greater emphasis on tanking.Stats of poison type mega evolutions are shown in the following picture:Stats of poison type mega evolutionsPoison type pokemon deals more damage to grass and fairy type pokemon. This limits their use drastically. There are no worthy bosses of these types in the game. Well, then we have to test them against "unworthy" :)vs GrassShaymin was taken as the grass type boss. Shaymin is in the game's code for a long time, it has a moveset and actual stats, but still hven't been released. 50% damage is a good result versus Shaymin (which corresponds to hard duo).Poison vs ShayminThe best Pokemon against Shaymin are as follows:Shaymin top countersPoison type mega evolutions result:Poison vs ShayminPoison type Pokemon are mediocre versus Shaymin. It's all about a weak sharge move, Sludge bomb, which deals only 80 damage, which negates the large attack of these poison type Pokemon. Regardless, Mega Beedrill still manages to deal more than 50% damage and even outperform Reshiram a little, but this is actually a ridiculous result for a Mega evolution.vs FairyLet's choose Togetic as a fairy boss, which is a fairly difficult tier 4 boss (but not as difficult as Metagross and Alolan Marowak). Against him, a good result would be at least 60% damage.Poison vs TogeticThe best Pokemon against Togetic are as follows:Togetic top countersPoison type mega evolutions result:Poison vs TogeticThis time also only Beedrill manages to slightly outclass usual Pokemon in terms of damage, but the level of Darmanitan is still unattainable for it.Conclusion #1Poison type Pokemon are not used in raids, and they will not be used after the introduction of mega evolutions. Again, this is an example of how bad moves kill an entire TYPE of Pokemon. My hopes for the resurrection of bug and poison types were dashed.ElectricAnother type today is electric. 2 mega evolutions of this type will appear in the game: Mega Manectric and Mega Ampharos, both of them have not the worst, but not the best stats. In any case, only simulation will show their true strength.Stats of electric type mega evolutions are shown in the following picture:Stats of electric type mega evolutionsElectric type Pokemon deals more damage to water and flying Pokemon. Thus, the list of bosses against which electric Pokemon can potentially be useful is quite long: Lugia, Moltres, Tornadus, Articuno, Suicune, Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Zapdos, Thundrus.vs FlyingNothing boded ill, however, Moltres and Ho-Oh have a double vulnerability to rock type, Rayquaza has no vulnerability to electric type due to dragon typing, Zapdos and Thundrus also have no vulnerability due to electric typing, so only Lugia , Articuno and Tornadus remain.Versus Lugia, electric type mega evolutions must outclass dark and ghost type mega evolutions. Versus Tornadus, they will have to compete with Zekrom and Galarian Darmanitan Zen Mode.Electric vs Flying type with a high defence (Lugia example)The best Pokemon against Lugia are as follows:Lugia top countersElectric type mega evolutions result:Electric vs LugiaWhat is it?! Isn't this mega evolutions?! No, there is no mistake here. The secret is that attack of Manectric is 286, while Zekrom has 275. Yes, 10 points is not a little, but not when other parameters are lower by 30 units. This leads to the fact that when you are using Manectric, you must necessarily change a group, make a rejoin, and this takes 10-15 seconds, the time when you do not deal any damage.Ampharos scores poorly for 2 reasons: it has a bad charge move and it has lower attack.Electric vs Flying type with a high attack (Tornadus example)The best Pokemon against Tornadus are as follows:Tornadus top countersElectric type mega evolutions result:Electric vs TornadusOnce again, Mega Manectric results are not good enough to outclass even Zekrom. The reason is all the same - significantly lower defence and stamina.vs WaterAnd once again, upon closer examination, it turns out that Electric type Pokemon are applicable only against a fraction of all potential bosses. Palkia is removed from the list, which, thanks to the dargon typing.Only Kyogre and Suicune remain, the boss with high attack and high defense respectively. Both of them are quite difficult, so more than 45% damage will be a good result versus them.Electric vs SuicuneThe best Pokemon against Suicune are as follows:Suicune top countersElectric type mega evolutions result:Electric vs SuicuneAs you can see, Manectric manages to outclass Zekrom a bit this time, but the diffrence is very small. This is only possible because Manectric has no vulnerability to ice, while Zekrom suffers greatly from Ice Beam.Electric vs KyogreThe best Pokemon against Kyogre are as follows:Kyogre top countersElectric type mega evolutions result:Electric vs KyogreAnd against Kyogre, vulnerability to ice already ceases to play its role and the extremely low defence and stamina of Manectric come to the fore. For this reason, Manectric is significantly inferior in damage to Zekrom and as a result it is unable to deal more than 45% damage.Conslusion #2Electric Pokemon, as well as Bug and Poison type Pokemon, are too weak, however, in this case the “killer” is not a bad moveset, but low stats. Manectric gets a good stats boost after mega evolution, but this is not enough to be used in raids. Ampharos doesn't even have a hint of being used in raids. Its results are so bad that I don't even mention it in the post. However, it can find its use in PvP (I would not have hoped for that either).#1 - Bug type: https://ift.tt/3ffxgy4 - Dark type:https://ift.tt/2D3ej4l - Water type:https://ift.tt/30ehGy7 - Ghost + BONUS Gyarados with CD move revelance:https://ift.tt/3399h0Z via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/3jW60rG
