"Mega evolutions by type #9. Rock + Bonus: My thoughts about mega evolutions"

#PokemonGO: DisclaimerThe stats of mega evolutions are calculated in accordance to the current formulas for transferring stats from the main game series to Pokemon GO (i.e., they are only approximate and may change slightly in the actual release). Movepool of a mega evolution is the same as the movepool of their previous form. All simulations were carried out for Pokemon level 40, 15/15/15, extreme weather, 10% friendship bonus.LegendFAQQ: Do you know that {pokemon name} will be even better than one of those you are talking about?A: Yes, I know. I will definitely write something about it when the time comes. If you want to see a specific type in the next post, or to find the result of some Pokemon versus some boss, you can just ask me.Q: How can you know ahead of time that players will be allowed to have more than one mega evolution in a raid group?A: I don’t know. I'm just trying to do a detailed analysis of each mega evolution, categorizing them by type. Mega Evolutions are great, but they don't break raids, they only make them easier. If they limit number of megas to one per group, then mega evolutions will not affect raids AT ALL. Let's take an example. Let' say a party consisting of one specific mega evolution allows you to deal 5% more damage to a boss than in the case of an usual Pokemon. Then one mega evolution allows you to deal about 5 / (from 10 to 18)% more damage, which is 0.5% at best. Will it be noticeable? No, isn't it? So let's hope that there will be no restrictions, or they will not be so severe.IntroductionThe game features only 2 rock type mega evolutions: Mega Tyranitar and Mega Aerodactyl. Both of them have a pretty good attack stat, so both of them have the potential to be used in raids.Stats of rock type mega evolutions are shown in the following picture:Stats of rock type mega evolutionsRock type Pokemon deal more damage to Bug, Fire, Flying and Ice to Pokemon. So rock type mega evolutions could potentially be useful against: Rayquaza, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Entei, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Regice, Tornadus, Thundurus, Reshiram, Kyurem.I divide all these bosses according to their level of vulnerability: double or common.Bosses with double vulnerability: Ho-Oh, Moltres, Articuno.Bosses with common vulnerability: Rayquaza, Zapdos, Entei, Lugia, Regice, Tornadus, Thundurus, Reshiram, Kyurem. In this post, simulations will be carried out for all bosses with double vulnerability and the following bosses with common vulnerability: Entei, Lugia, Regice, Tornadus, Reshiram.vs bosses with double vulnerabilityAgainst bosses with double vulnerability, rock type Mega Evolutions need to outclass other rock type Pokemon presented in the game, including monsters like Rampardos and Rhyperior.Rock vs Ho-OhThe best Pokemon against Ho-Oh are as follows:Ho-Oh top countersRock typemega evolutions result:Rock vs Ho-OhRock vs MoltresThe best Pokemon against Moltres are as follows:Moltres top countersRock typemega evolutions result:Rock vs MoltresRock vs ArticunoThe best Pokemon against Articuno are as follows:Articuno top countersRock type mega evolutions result:Rock vs ArticunoRock type mega evolutions show not remarkable results against bosses with double vulnerability. On average, their powerlevel matches the powerlevel of Rhyperior. This is due to the fact that both Tyranitar and Aerodactyl don't have the best movesets in the game, especially Tyranitar with its Stone Edge. There is the only example (vs Ho-Oh), where new mega evolutions manage outperform normal pokemon. But the whole point is that Ho-Oh has Solar Beam that destroys rock type Pokemon while Mega Tyranitar has enough health and defense to survive Ho-Oh attacks, and Mega Aerodactyl is assisted by its additional Flying type.In general, both of these mega evolutions have almost the same results despite a large gap in parameters (hello ance again to Stone Edge).vs bosses with common vulnerabilityAgainst bosses with the common vulnerability, stone mega evolutions need to outclass not only normal Pokemon, but also other mega evolutions.Rock vs LugiaThe best Pokemon against Lugia are as follows:Lugia top countersRock type mega evolutions result:Rock vs LugiaRock vs TornadusThe best Pokemon against Tornadus are as follows:Tornadus top countersRock type mega evolutions result:Rock vs TornadusRock vs RegiceThe best Pokemon against Regice are as follows:Regice top countersRock type mega evolutions result:Rock vs RegiceRock vs EnteiThe best Pokemon against Entei are as follows:Entei top countersRock type mega evolutions result:Rock vs EnteiRock vs ReshiramThe best Pokemon against Reshiram are as follows:Reshiram top countersRock type mega evolutions result:Rock vs ReshiramRock type mega evolutions lose to ALL Pokemon in the top 3 against every boss. The reason for this is still the same: outdated moves that were good 2 years ago, and which cannot oppose anything to the new Pokemon and their CD moves .ConclusionRock type mega evolutions are very good in terms of stats, which can not be said about their moves. And if Aerodactyl will be difficult enough to show better results without CD, then Tyranitar is much easier to help- it just needs a Rock Slide.Bonus. My thoughts about mega evolutions implementation.I have been told a million times that mega evolutions must / will be limited in number, or they will appear only During time of a battle. Let me explain my thoughts on this.IntroductionThe problem with Pokemon GO is that the developers did NOT believe and was NOT ready for its success. This was especially evident in the first year after the release: the developers were struggling to cope with their popularity game bugs. They wanted to make some money on a one-day game that noone would be playing in six months. Therefore, the game was released as raw, buggy and unfinished. TI can understand why it was so: their previous VR game was not very successful, especially over the years. But the global community of Pokemon fans decided that this game is what they need and for many years Pokemon GO has been one of the most popular and grossing mobile games.Temporary or permanent? Why am I saying all this? The game was conceived to be as simple as possible and its functionality was very, very limited. Both the client and server sides were coded awfully. It's even more rediculous because after many years and millions of gross, Niantic still has no way to restore the CD moves if something went wrong (and "something" wents wrong VERY often).SO if they make mega evolutions temporary, then the developers have a huge technical problem: how do we restore the moveset of a Pokemon after a mega evolution is over? Another question is: what moves to give mega evolution, if it is available only in battle and the player cannot use TM? (because they cannot give them random moves and they cannot give them good moves since it has no sence from money standpoint) The third question is: if mega evolution is available only in battle, what will be its impact on the battle, because the loss of even a part of HP greatly reduces the damage output of mega evolution? The simplest and most obvious answer to these questions is to make mega evolution permanent. Then we have no problems with efficiency, the technical side of reversing of changes and what skills to give mega evolution.Plus, there are no risks of screwing up (and Niantic likes to screw up), for example, accidentally forget what moves a Pokemon had before mega evo. What will the moveset be?Players, as a rule, put some effort into their Pokémon: power up them, change their moves, and so on. Niantic simply cannot afford to infuriate players. So, if we accept that the mega evolutions will be permanent, then after the transformation mega evolutions MUST preserve their moves from the previous stage of evolution (although the mega evolutions moveset may well differ from the original - the most important thing is to preserve what player had)How many mega evolutions will be available? My personal opinion is that Niantic will make the number of mega evolutions unlimited, BUT make them very difficult to obtain. There are 2 ways: to make special stones, which can be obtained in some very effort consuming way, or make mega evolutions available only for the best buddies. Also Niantic may combine these 2 approaches. As a result, the number of mega evolutions will be artificially limited without without any restrictions from the game code side.An alternative to this: to make special slots in raids for mega evolutions, but honestly, I don't believe in that. And here we return to the simplicity of the game and to the fact that it was codded terribly. And with such initial conditions slots limitation looks illogical (at least for me).As a result: I think that mega evolutions will be permanent, the number of them will be unlimited, but obtaining rather difficult.Once again THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION, YOU CAN HAVE YOUR OWNThank you for your attention#1 - Bug type: https://ift.tt/3ffxgy4 - Dark type:https://ift.tt/2D3ej4l - Water type:https://ift.tt/2DahYxt - Ghost + BONUS Gyarados with CD move revelance:https://ift.tt/2BMU6PP - Double issue.
