"Detailed Mega Evolution Breakdown (Generation One)"

#PokemonGO: This post contains all Gen One Mega Evolutions. The goal of these posts is to provide detailed PVP and PVE information about all Mega Evolutions, present and future. While most of this information is already confirmed, there is a bit of theorycrafting involving moves that Pokemon have in the main games but no in Pokemon Go, as well as how these Mega Evolutions interact with the current meta in Go Battle League. Due to how in depth this topic is, I can no longer contain all the information in two posts like I originally did a few months ago. (Original threads are located here and here.)Generation One Mega Evolutions are here.Generation Two Mega Evolutions are here.Generation Three Mega Evolutions are here.Generation Four & Five Mega Evolutions + Primal Reversions are here.Important Notes:Max CP assumes level 41 + 100% IVs.DPS is calculated against an undefined pokemon for neutral damage, with EXTREME weather.TDO in PVE analysis is shorthand for DPS3TDO.Ratings take into account only the new megas and Kyurem B/W. I have not considered unreleased pokemon as of October 2020.Niantic is aware of the backlash on how they implemented the Mega Evolution System, therefore is subject to change at a moments notice. The contents of this post should remain largely unaffected, however there could be small differences depending on what is changed.Energy costs appear to be tied to Walking Distance. 1km = 100 candies, 3km = 200 candies etc. Based on the 1,000 energy cap and pattern of energy costs, I'm claiming that 5km will be 300/60 energy and 20km will be 500/100 energy.RatingPVP ExplanationPVE Explanation☆☆☆☆☆ (Zero Stars)Not relevant at allNot relevant at all★☆☆☆☆ (One Star)Only relevant in specific cupsThere are better non-mega Pokemon, but are at least useful for the mega boost★★☆☆☆ (Two Stars)Only relevant as a specific counter against a top-meta pokemonBeat any non-mega Pokemon but are poorly typed or outclassed by other Megas★★★☆☆ (Three Stars)Only relevant in Premier League, or as a spice pickSolid options you likely already have good Mons of★★★★☆ (Four Stars)Overall highly relevantUseful against wide variety of bosses, typically best-in-type.★★★★★ (Five Stars)Meta-Defining Pokemon, extremely relevantBest of the best, no compromisesMega VenusaurMax CP: 3745 (6889 stat product)Type Change: N/AEnergy Cost: 200 initial, 40 subsequentGreat League IV: 1498CP @ 1/15/15 lvl 15 (1792 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2499CP @ 0/15/9 lvl 25.5 (3838 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Earth Power, Earthquake, Toxic, VenoshockGL Rating: ★★★★☆UL Rating: ★★★★☆ML Rating: ★★★★☆PVE Rating: ★★★★★Boost Value: ★★★☆☆PVP Analysis: Big buffs to Venusaur's bulk means it could climb up a few rungs on the PVP ladder. Venusaur also benefits from having only a slight decrease in stat product in GL and UL. While it might not have any good answers to Registeel or Metagross, it may pick up a couple of extra wins elsewhere to keep him more viable in UL and ML. It also secures wins against Kyogre, Groudon, Raikou, Tyranitar and Swampert in ML, and even though Dragon resists Grass, Venusaur is still very capable here if you can support it. If it gets Earth Power or Earthquake, it will have a solid coverage option.PVE Analysis: Sporting 17.382 DPS and 3389.1 TDO Mega Venusaur easily takes the Grass crown from Roserade. Highest Grass TDO in the game, though DPS is lower than mega Sceptile. It does, however, lack a Poison type fast move. Toxic or Venoshock could be fast move, though it is unknown.Mega Boost Analysis: Poison is largely worthless in raids, and Grass usually needs weatherboost to compete with other types. That said, with the right conditions, will definitely be useful.Mega Charizard XMax CP: 3899 (6604 stat product)Type Change: Fire/Flying > Fire/DragonEnergy Cost: 200 initial, 40 subsequentGreat League IV: 1499 @ 0/11/15 lvl 14.5 (1614 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2499 @ 1/15/13 lvl 24 (3478 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Shadow Claw, Counter, Bite, Dragon Tail, Fly, Outrage, Scale Shot, Dragon Rush, Dragon Pulse, Flare Blitz*, Solar Beam, Thunder Punch, Fire Punch, Earthquake, Rock SlideGL Rating: ★★★☆☆UL Rating: ★★★☆☆ML Rating: ★★★★★PVE Rating: ★★★★★Boost Value: ★★★★★PVP Analysis: Charizard X is functionally the same as Reshiram, with slightly better stats. It doesn't have Crunch like Reshiram, but Blast burn is amazing, as is Dragon Claw. Speaking of, gaining STAB to Dragon Claw helps keep Charizard X relevant in Great League, especially when you consider its stat product isnt that much lower than regular Charizard. Similarly, its stat product in UL isnt too much lower either, but the Dragon typing hurts it against Giratina and Togekiss, and it loses to Swampert.PVE Analysis: Charizard X has 19.022 DPS and 4216.9 TDO Fire type plus 16.457 DPS and 2362.5 TDO Dragon type, making it a slightly better Fire attacker than Reshiram but a worse Dragon attacker, with all the same type matchups. Difference being Charizard X is much cheaper to max and extra moves are cheaper (not that it matters for PVE). Better have both those CD moves though! If Charizard gets Dragon Tail + Outrage, it will outclass Reshiram in every way, but only by a little.Mega Boost Analysis: Dragon is the premier type to use in raids, and Fire is a solid secondary. While Charizard X doesn't have any good Dragon Moves, its fire typing allows it to negate its Ice weakness, which puts Charizard X in a unique position to be a great "support" Mega, granting the mega boost for other Dragons to make use of, but not really for itself. Definitely a great option.Mega Charizard YMax CP: 4512 (7624 stat product)Type Change: N/AEnergy Cost: 200 initial, 40 subsequentGreat League IV: 1498 @ 0/13/11 lvl 12.5 (1489 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2500 @ 1/15/15 lvl 2.5 (3215 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Shadow Claw, Counter, Bite, Fly, Outrage, Flare Blitz*, Solar Beam, Thunder Punch, Fire Punch, Earthquake, Rock SlideGL Rating: ★★☆☆☆UL Rating: ★★☆☆☆ML Rating: ★★☆☆☆PVE Rating: ★★★★☆Boost Value: ★★☆☆☆PVP Analysis: Similar use case of regular Charizard, but lower stat product might hinder it. Charizard Y should be able to wade into ML and possibly get some value thanks to its increased bulk and attack power. However, lack of coverage moves means you're not gonna be fully utilizing this mega, better off sticking with Charizard X.PVE Analysis: Somewhat higher DPS than Charizard X at 19.253, but less TDO at 3002.5 Less DPS than Blaziken, so it's not the best at anything. Its typing is different than Blaziken and Reshiram, as well, for what that's worth. All the same, Charizard X will likely take the mega slot, outside of matchups where Dragon typing is a hinderance.Mega Boost Analysis: While Flying isn't too useful, Fire is a solid type to have. Charizard has some okay bulk too. Nothing spectacular here, but probably worth the boost.Mega BlastoiseMax CP: 3991 (7160 stat product)Type Change: N/AEnergy Cost: 200 initial, 40 subsequentGreat League IV: 1497 @ 1/15/15 lvl 14 (1685 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2499 @ 0/14/15 lvl 23.5 (3640 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Crunch, Outrage, Aura Sphere, Earthquake, AvalancheGL Rating: ★★☆☆☆UL Rating: ★★★☆☆ML Rating: ★★★☆☆PVE Rating: ★★★★★Boost Value: ★★★☆☆PVP Analysis: Higher attack power and even more bulk gives Blastoise some saying power in ML. It might even have enough bulk to take on some of the Dragon and Grass types that would normally farm regular Blastoise down, provided mega Blastoise can fire off an extra Ice Beam before going down. If it got Avalanche (which is strictly better than Ice Beam) it would definitely be a threat. Unfortunately its stat product seemingly takes too big of a hit in UL and GL to be fully effective.PVE Analysis: At 18.807 DPS and 4441.4 TDO, he has a tad bit more DPS than mega Swampert while having more TDO and firmly beats regular Kyogre. Primal Kyogre wipes the floor with any other Water type, though. Depending on if Niantic counts Primal Reversion as a mega evolution (its not in the MGS) Blastoise could still be worth the slot.Mega Boost Analysis: Water is a decent type, with a good number of legendary raid bosses being Ground Rock or Fire. And Blastoise certinly has the bulk to stick around and make sure the lobby gets good use of it. However, being mono type means you are only giving half the maximum boost that other megas could provide, and Water is just decent - not much more.Mega BeedrillMax CP: 3426 (4623 stat product)Type Change: N/AEnergy Cost: 100 initial, 20 subsequentGreat League IV: 1496 @ 0/11/14 lvl 16.5 (1362 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2495 @ 1/15/15 lvl 27 (2937 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Toxic, Venoshock, Twineedle, Pin MissileGL Rating: ★★☆☆☆UL Rating: ★★★☆☆ML Rating: ★☆☆☆☆PVE Rating: ★★★★★Boost Value: ☆☆☆☆☆PVP Analysis: Gains a lot of attack, allowing it more breathing room in higher leagues. However, its abysmal bulk and rough typing doesn't do it any favors. It gains a large amount of stat product in UL, where it's typing and moves let it be a good counter to Psychic or Fairy types; however the necessity of Drill Run doesn't let it be both. All the same, as a specialized counter, Beedrill will prove very capable.PVE Analysis: At 17.723 DPS and 1986.6 TDO, Beedrill has the highest Bug DPS and TDO in the game, though it should be noted it needs legacy Bug Bite to achieve this (Infestation is still decent). It is also the highest Poison DPS at 19.718 DPS and 3044 TDO, firmly grasping the throne from Roserade.Mega Boost Analysis: Not worth it. Neither Bug nor Poison have raid value, and Beedrill lacks the bulk to stick around long enough to make use of the boost.Mega PidgeotMax CP: 3727 (5920 stat product)Type Change: N/AEnergy Cost: 100 initial, 20 subsequentGreat League IV: 1498 @ 1/15/14 lvl 15 (1544 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2495 @ 1/15/15 lvl 27.5 (3323 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Feint Attack, Fly, Overheat, Toxic, PursuitGL Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆UL Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ML Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆PVE Rating: ★★☆☆☆Boost Value: ★☆☆☆☆PVP Analysis: Gaining only attack and no bulk to speak of, Pidgeot will likely remain a benchwarmer. Recent changes to Brave Bird, and the addition of Gust have boosted viabilty to Pidgeot, though it's still not useful outside of the upcoming UL Flying Cup. If it got any of it's coverage moves or Fly, it could bump up to two stars in UL or possibly ML, but don't hold your breath.PVE Analysis: Statwise, it beats Moltres at 18.66 DPS and 3352.2 TDO. Unfortunately, Pidgeot's two best fast moves, Gust and Wing attack are both legacy. Still usable without, and can only go up if it gets Fly or Sky Attack.Mega Boost Analysis: Not particularly worth it. Neither Flying nor Normal are useful types to be boosted, as other types fill the same role with better pokemon and better mega evolutions. Strictly only useful where a raid boss has double flying weakness (Virizion, for example). However, at only 20 energy it does make for a decent budget boost.Mega AlakazamMax CP: 3711 (4933 stat product)Type Change: N/AEnergy Cost: 200 initial, 40 subsequentGreat League IV: 1498 @ 0/15/14 lvl 15 (1298 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2496 @ 0/15/14 lvl 25 (2789 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Thunder Punch, Ice Punch, Grass Knot, Foul PlayGL Rating: ★☆☆☆☆UL Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ML Rating: ★★★☆☆PVE Rating: ★★☆☆☆Boost Value: ★☆☆☆☆PVP Analysis: Alakazam has always been glassy, but its mega evolution gave a bigger buff to defense than to attack. This may make Mega Alakazam more viable than its regular form, especially if it survives long enough to make use of more charge moves, which was always the main thing holding back regular Alakazam. Access to Counter, Shadow Ball is a plus, especially in Masters. If given access to the other elemental punches, could have fill an interesting Hypno-Type role in ML - but I would look to Slowbro for that.PVE Analysis: Alakzam eeks out a little more DPS than regular psystrike Mewtwo at 21.113 DPS, but with much less TDO at 4142. Beaten hard by both mega Mewtwos. With both mega Mewtwos likely to be extremely expensive, Alakazam is a worthy option, but far from the best.Mega Boost Analysis: Mono typing is typically suboptimal with Mega Boost, and even using it to amp up a team of Psytrike Mewtwos is pretty lackluster. Mewtwos are great, but theres usually better specific mathcup options out there. Alakazam's bulk isn't doing it any favors here, either.Mega SlowbroMax CP: 3803 (7580 stat product)Type Change: N/AEnergy Cost: 200 initial, 40 subsequentGreat League IV: 1499 @ 0/13/14 lvl 15 (1941 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2500 @ 0/12/15 lvl 25 (4171 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Mud Shot, Surf, Avalanche, Earthquake, Grass Knot, Shadow Ball, Flamethrower, Foul Play, PsychicGL Rating: ★★☆☆☆UL Rating: ★★☆☆☆ML Rating: ★★★☆☆PVE Rating: ★☆☆☆☆Boost Value: ★★☆☆☆PVP Analysis: Gains a huge amount of bulk and a respectable amount of attack. Stat product in GL and UL is largely the same which means mega Slowbro is safe to swap in for regular, but will still suffer from the same lackluster moveset. In ML, Slowbro benefits from a huge bump to stat product, though it doesnt appear to be a huge mix up to the rankings. With an incredibly diverse future moveset pool featuring amazing coverage moves, it has potential to be the Hypno of UL and ML, particularly is it gets the high energy Mud Shot to enable rapid charge moves firing off.PVE Analysis: Completely irrelevant Water attacker and not much better as a Psychic attacker, at 14.587 DPS and 1988.8 TDO Psychic damage. Blech. Only useful for a mega boost, but Blastoise is generally a better option.Mega Boost Analysis: More useful than Alakazam, as Slowbro offers both bulk and a Water boost as well (though Water and Psychic rarely have a place in the same raid lobby). If you can organize teams with Psytrike Mewtwos, you can expect good returns, but thats not a typical situation.Mega GengarMax CP: 3682 (5119 stat product)Type Change: N/AEnergy Cost: 200 initial, 40 subsequentGreat League IV: 1497 @ 3/15/14 lvl 15 (1347 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2496 @ 2/15/15 lvl 25 (2910 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Poison Jab, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder PunchGL Rating: ★★★☆☆UL Rating: ★★★☆☆ML Rating: ★★★★☆PVE Rating: ★★★★★Boost Value: ☆☆☆☆☆PVP Analysis: Like Alakazam, Gengar's stat change favors defense which could mean a significant buff to survivability. Gengar's wide array of legacy moves could mean there is a hefty barrier to entry, but also comes with the benefit of coverage and unpredictability. Will be interesting to see just how wide his coverage will be with stats that allow him to farm up multiple moves. GL stat product is low, but with CD move and shields, it can be viable. UL isn't much worse than regular Gengar which could give it more viability. ML is where Gengar shines, with stat product boosts that are significantly higher than regular Gengar. If it got the elemental punches, Gengar could retain it's bait-and-nuke style of play seen with Shadow Punch, but would offer coverage (Ice Punch in particular would cover Gengar's Ground weakness).PVE Analysis: At 21.387 DPS and 4379.9 TDO, Gengar takes the ghost DPS crown from itself and the TDO crown from Tina-O.Mega Boost Analysis: Ghost is useful against Psychic raid bosses, but because Ghost trades with Ghost, that usually means Dark fills this role better. Given Gengars poor bulk and poison subtyping (which is both worthless offensively and a weakness against the Psychic types you're using it on) it's hard to find use for this Mega Boost. Stick with Dark types.Mega KangaskhanMax CP: 3899 (7317 stat product)Type Change: N/AEnergy Cost: 200 initial, 40 subsequentGreat League IV: 1500 @ 0/14/15 lvl 14.5 (1797 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2498 @ 1/15/15 lvl 24 (3856 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Shadow Claw, Shadow Ball, Body Slam, Avalanche, Surf, Rock Slide, Earthquake, Solar Beam, Flamethrower, Focus Blast, Thunderbolt, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder PunchGL Rating: ★★☆☆☆UL Rating: ★★★☆☆ML Rating: ★★★★☆PVE Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆Boost Value: ☆☆☆☆☆PVP Analysis: Kangaskhan's stat product nearly doubles in ML with its mega evolution. Having access to a Mud Slap, as well as Outrage, Crunch and Earthquake could mean bad news for the Dragons and Steels that rule ML. Resisting Ghost is also a huge plus, but Kangaskhan unfortunately won't be hitting anything for STAB. Takes minor hits to stat product in both GL and UL. Unclear how its UL viabiltiy will change, but looks promising in ML, like a better Snorlax. If given access to any of it's future movesetm, you could expect to see a lot of Kangas in GBL, being an incredibly diverse option that can fill roles in both Open and Premier cups.PVE Analysis: Not even considerable for raids.Mega Boost Analysis: Kangaskhan was already worthless, but a boost to the worst offensive type in the game is laughable.Mega PinsirMax CP: 3549 (5379 stat product)Type Change: Bug > Bug/FlyingEnergy Cost: 300 initial, 60 subsequentGreat League IV: 1500 @ 0/12/13 lvl 16 (1516 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2500 @ 0/12/15 lvl 26.5 (3269 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Rock Slide, EarthquakeGL Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆UL Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ML Rating: ★☆☆☆☆PVE Rating: ★★☆☆☆Boost Value: ☆☆☆☆☆PVP Analysis: The addition of flying type means Pinsir picks up a resistance to Bug and a double resistance to Ground, at the cost of weaknesses to Electric, Fire and Ice and a double weaknesses to Rock. This is a sizeable nerf to Pinsir, as Bug is already not a good resistance in PVP, and gaining 4 weakness (1 of which is double) is bad news. Aside from that, Pinsir doesnt learn any Flying type moves that it could us to leverage its additional typing through STAB. Leave Pinsir on the Bench.PVE Analysis: At 16.034 DPS and 1682 TDO, Pinsir is strictly better than Genesect, but its typings may hinder it. Mega Beedrill and Mega Heracross are better as Bug attackers, for what that's worth. Probably not worth the mega slot.Mega Boost Analysis: Flying and Bug are really bad offensively. Pinsir also lacks bulk, so don't even think twice about this one.Mega GyaradosMax CP: 4009 (7166 stat product)Type Change: Water/Flying > Water/DarkEnergy Cost: 100 initial, 20 subsequentGreat League IV: 1499 @ 0/15/15 lvl 14 (1675 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2500 @ 0/12/15 lvl 23.5 (3622 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Surf, Dark Pulse, Avalanche, Hurricane, FLamethrowerGL Rating: ★★☆☆☆UL Rating: ★★★☆☆ML Rating: ★★★★☆PVE Rating: ★★☆☆☆Boost Value: ★★★☆☆PVP Analysis: Changing Flying to Dark type means Gyarados' weakness to Electric changes from double to regular, which could matter with Zekrom being a threat in ML as of late. More importantly, it gains a resistance to Ghost, Dark, Psychic and Ice. Those are a lot of relevant types and could push Gyarados into a comfy spot in the meta. It loses it's resistance to ground, which is unfortunate due to the number of Ground coverage moves used in GBL. As far as weaknesses, Gyarados picks up Bug and Grass which aren't particularly relevant, but it also gains a weakness to Fighting and Fairy, which have proven to be mainstays in both Premier cup and Master League (Fighting less so in ML). Overall, I have high hopes for Gyarados, as it can effectively wall Dialga, Giratina, Metagross, TTar and Kyogre to name a few. It can also handle Groudon Firepunch spam well enough. Aqua Tail almost doubles Gyarados' wins in both GL and ML and not quite doubles its wins in ML, but is definitely enough to bump its rating up in every league. The same cannot be said for PVE.PVE Analysis: As a water attacker, it has 15.667 DPS and 2127.1 TDO, making it similar to non-mega Swampert, not to mention Kyogre exists. As far Dark, at 14.962 DPS and 1769.6 TDO, its outclassed by Darkrai, and only performs marignally better than Tyranitar. That said, there are probably some useful instances where Gyarados' unique typing might help TDO. Probably not worth the slot, though access to Surf or Dark Pulse would slightly boost Gyarados' numbers.Mega Boost Analysis: Water is decent and Dark is Good, but combined don't have much synergy. Put this on a pokemon with only average bulk and its just that - average. Although having double resistance to Psychic is a plus, and does increase the effectiveness of the Mega Boost against those types of raid bosses. It is also the cheapest Dark mega boost out there, so will definitely have usage. But Houndoom will provide the same boost and put out heaps more damage in the process.Mega AerodactylMax CP: 3497 (5455 stat product)Type Change: N/AEnergy Cost: 300 initial, 60 subsequentGreat League IV: 1500 @ 1/15/15 lvl 16 (1571 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2496 @ 0/13/13 lvl 27 (3373 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Smack Down, Ice Fang, Thunder Fang, Wing Attack, Dragon Breath, Sky Attack, Crunch, Dragon Claw, Fly, Toxic*, Aqua TailGL Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆UL Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ML Rating: ★☆☆☆☆PVE Rating: ★☆☆☆☆Boost Value: ★★☆☆☆PVP Analysis: Aerodactyl doesnt have a place in the meta as it is, due to lack of stats and lack of movepool. Mega evolving gives it a good leg up on the stat problem, but Aerodactyl is still hindered by movepool issues. With a rockstar future movepool featuring incredible coverage and fantastic moves, we may see Aerodactyl outside of Flying Cup in the future. For now, skip it.PVE Analysis: At 16.419 DPS and 1953.2 TDO, Aerodactyl has considerably less DPS and TDO than Rampardos. Its comparable to Terrakion, having the same TDO and slightly more DPS. Not worth the mega slot.Mega Boost Analysis: Rock and Flying is interesting. A good amount of Legendaries have Flying as a subtype and thus are weak to Rock (with some being double weak). Giving a Mega Boost to the already voracious Rampardos will nuke whatever you're up against. That said, Flying is typically worthless offensively, so there will be better Rock Megas (like Tyranitar, with better bulk) who will fill the "Rock Support" role much more optimally.Mega Mewtwo XMax CP: 5498 (9742 stat product)Type Change: Psychic > Psychic/FightingEnergy Cost: 500 initial, 100 subsequentGreat League IV: 1500 @ 3/15/14 lvl 10 (1406 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2500 @ 0/9/15 lvl 17 (3025 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Low Kick, Aura Sphere, Foul Play, Avalanche, Elemental Punches, Rock Slide, FLamethrower, ThunderboltGL Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆UL Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ML Rating: ★★★★☆PVE Rating: ★★★★★Boost Value: ★☆☆☆☆PVP Analysis: Mewtwo X gains a HUGE buff to attack, nearly doubling the stat in the base game. It gains only the slightest buffs to defense, meaning Mewtwo X will be glassy as ever. That could be a bad thing as it gains a weakness to Fairy. It gains a Flying weakness and loses the Bug weakness, neither of those weaknesses being particularly relevant in ML. Mewteo X does gain a resistance to Rock and loses the weakness to Dark, which will help against TTar and Rhyperior. Its resistance to Psychic changes to neutral damage, which means it loses the mirror with Mewtwo Y. Aura Sphere in it's future movepool could be devastating, along with other various coverage moves.PVE Analysis: Second only to Mewtwo Y, but offering a different resistance table, at 25.664 DPS and 14960.4 TDO, Mewtwo X is crazy powerful. If given Aura Sphere, it would wipe the floor with Lucario, offering almost double the TDO and a healthy lead on DPS - and thats with Mewtwo being held back by Low Kick.Mega Boost Analysis: Fighting is a useful type to boost, though Psychic is fairly lackluster. not many pokemon are weak to both Psychic and Fighting, and Mewtwo is incredibly expensive to keep online. For boosting purposes, Medicham will fill the Psychic/Fighting role much more efficiently (if you can find a reason for it) and for Fighters, theres better options (Lucario for instance).Mega Mewtwo YMax CP: 5760 (10,345 stat product)Type Change: N/AEnergy Cost: 500 initial, 100 subsequentGreat League IV: 1499 @ 7/15/13 lvl 8 (1385 stat product)Ultra League IV: 2497 @ 0/14/15 lvl 16 (3001 stat product)Future Moveset Expansions: Aura Sphere, Foul Play, Avalanche, Elemental Punches, Rock Slide, Flamethrower, ThunderboltGL Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆UL Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ML Rating: ★★★★☆PVE Rating: ★★★★★★Boost Value: ★☆☆☆☆PVP Analysis: Same weaknesses and resistances as regular Mewtwo, but because Mewtwo Y actually loses defense, it's hard to say if its a straight buff to regular Mewtwo, or if the change in stats mean it becomes too glassy to be useful in PVP. More coverage moves is always better, and mewtwo doesn't have much. However, Shadow Ball covers half its weaknesses. Aura Sphere would take care of the other half.PVE Analysis: B E A S T. Nothing in the game comes close to this. 26.464 DPS and 17,382.7 TDO. Mic Drop. Expect a nerf to this before it hits the game, as there would be little reason for other pokemon if you had such a strong generalist. For now, Mewtwo Y gets 6 stars, as it almost makes other megas redundant for PVE.Mega Boost Analysis: For as amazing as Mewtwo is as a generalist, not many people use it like that anymore. Nowadays, most players have specific counters which eek out slightly more damage than Mewtwo does. For that reason, a Psychic type boost (and a mono one, at that) is not useful unless you specifically organize your raid lobbies to use Mewtwo's. On top of that, Mewtwo will be very expensive to upkeep given it's 20km status. If you plan groups around it, it has great potential but in a post-COVID world, that doesn't happen a lot.Sources & Credits: * IVs and Stat Product come from StadiumGaming and PoGoStat. * DPS Figures and other PVE references from from GamePress * PvPoke was referenced countless times as a baseline for PVP ratings and matchup data as well as Fast and Charge move data. * Special thanks to u/Jetson16 for his in depth look at PVE megas (nice spreadsheet!) * This thread on GamePress by u/CatEyePorygon is heaps helpful and I referenced it quite a bit. * Thanks to u/SenseiEntei, u/SnorlaxTrees, u/Mauro697, u/Eliwood_of_Pherae, and u/Daedalus871 for their corrections and advice. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/36FIVWf
