"Have I been saying “Delibird” incorrectly my whole life?"

Everyone I know (including myself) pronounced “Delibird” as Deli (like meat) + Bird. I was getting into Pokémon name etymology with some of my friends and I questioned Delibird. Clearly it comes as some sort of delivery bird and that’s when it hit me. The word “delivered.” Delibird is just a play on the word “Delivered” and was likely meant to be pronounced the same way.Does anyone pronounce this Pokémon this way? Is this normal train of thought and I’ve been sleeping under a rock this whole time??
