"Your opinion on Pikachu?"

Ive noticed that pikachu gets a lot of hate! This is actually really strange to me, as I believe pikachu is the perfect mascot for the series. It has a great color scheme, a cool yet cute design, and has a cool elemental type in electric. His portrayal in the anime is also great, and even for a die hard fan like me with many years of experience and favourites, when someone says pokemon pikachu is the first creature that comes to mind. Id go so far as to put him in my top 10 favorites of all time (which usually results in people writing me off funnily enough, is it so weird that i hold pikachu in such high regard? If i were in the anime, he would definitely be my partner pokemon, as both it and raichu are great pokemon who are also adorable!) With all this in mind, i wanted to hear some of your thoughts on pikachu, do you love the little guy, feel indifferent towards him or hate him. For those who dislike/ hate him, why is that the case? Do you think another gen 1 pokemon could have done the job better? I gear a lot of people arguing for eevee, which i get as it is also adorable and all of it's evolutions are interesting and cute as well, but i personally feel pikachu fits the bill better (of course, this is just my biased pikachu loving opinion 🤣).
