"Am I crazy? Rival gym story"

#PokemonGO: Last night I found myself in a two-hour gym stand-off in a remote, dark parking lot past midnight.I'm on a goal to get gold gym badges for as many nearby gyms as possible. There's one gym, outside a very remote park near a creekside walking trail, that is so close to gold - Probably just a day or less of occupying the gym will get me there. It's about 3 km away from my house, so it's a pretty long walk, but I enjoy taking long, late-night walks everyday so I don't mind. It's in a remote, dimly-lit side of town so usually showing up late at night guarantees a full night's occupation of the gyms in that area.Last night I was wandering around aimlessly and noticed in the distance that this gym was occupied by my team so I thought it was a perfect chance to go for the gold. I walked there, placed my Pokemon, and was preparing to leave when a red car pulled up and took the gym just a few minutes later. I took note that the user who just dropped her Chansey there had already done the same thing at three other gyms along the same road in the distance. I waited for her to drive off and then I immediately went back to kick her out. She, meanwhile, continued on to yet another gym in the distance in the opposite direction and took that over.I started walking back and got about two blocks away when I noticed the red car coming back. She promptly pulled into the parking lot, took over the gym, and took her sweet time sitting there until she felt the coast was clear to go.I decided to continue walking for about ten minutes to give her enough time so get far enough from the area and then go back and take it again. As soon as I did, her car suddenly pulled out from around the corner halfway down the street as if she'd also been biding her time waiting to see if I'd come back.The parking lot for this gym is remote, dark,and surrounded by woods so it's a bit creepy to be there at night - Usually I like to get in and out to drop off my Pokemon as quickly as possible. This time, when I saw her coming, I stood by the main road waiting, and I even waved to her as she went by. I didn't want to go into the parking lot at the same time as her out of fear that she might be unstable.She took her time taking over the gym and then she pulled around to the main road and stopped there to see what I would do. I, too, waited, but then when no one was moving I just walked back into the dark parking lot and took over the gym again. When she saw that, she also pulled into the parking lot to take it for herself.What happened then was a two-hour stand-off. I'd take it over, then she's take it over, leaving weak, recently-caught Pokemon to conserve resources. I didn't mind waiting that long as I had nothing to do but talk to my boyfriend on speaker and I could do that from this dark parking lot just as easily as I could from home. I just sat there on the curb of this dark, eery parking lot while she sat in her car just a few feet away.The only reason I eventually had to give up was that my phone eventually ran out of battery power.We were there for a whole two hours and at no point did she attempt to make contact with me. She was probably wary, too, but it wouldn't take much for her to lower her window just a crack and say something. Obviously I wasn't going to walk over and tap on her window like a creeper. Maybe she was also trying to go for gold but the thing is, she's a whole 14 levels higher than me (48 compared to my 34) and she was already occupying most of the other gyms in the area.
