"What’s the best Pokémon game to break the ice on a new console?"

Meaning, the first main series game that was created for each console. There’s often lots of controversy in these debut games, mostly because it’s seemed like Game Freak has consistently used them as a testing mechanism for features they’d like to implement in their next installments.
