"Recent misconsception about Arceus."

If you go check Bulbapedia right now, you'll see that among Arceus's abilities, the power to create an exact replica of itself is considered to be something it's officially able to do. But is that true ?After you beat Arceus, it bestows its blessing and bestows upon you a part of itself, then, invites you to show it how the world appears in your eyes, essentially saying that it'll travel along with you. Although this comes immediately after the "part of myself" bit, I immediately jumped to the conclusion that it was talking about the Legend Plate. After all, after this piece of dialogue, not only does Arceus join you, but it also offers you the Legend Plate and throughout the game, the Plates are said to be fragments of Arceus. What seals the deal however is the Pokedex task for Arceus. It says "Part of Arceus received : 1". Sure, the text might not be very clear, but the Pokedex helps to clarify : Arceus was indeed talking about its physical form, which is either only a part of it, or something that can be replicated. (maybe much like Dialga, Palkia and Giratina who were also created from Arceus in Sinnoh legends but can be once again born anew in the Sinjoh Event) If Arceus was indeed talking about the Legend Plate, the text would say "Parts of Arceus received : 19", counting the total number of Plates. But I'm making this post because everyone has just been assuming that this was the complete truth. I began to doubt this because other translations, like the French version of the game, completely gloss over this aspect. (In this example, the Pokédex task becomes "Blessing of Arceus received : 1" which is completely different) So, I wanted to look at the Japanese text to see what it truly says. When talking about the blessing, and the part of itself, Arceus says : わたしはしゅくふくしましょう .....わたしのふんしんを あなたにたくします...which admittedly, I still don't understand completely. He's definitely talking about giving something and walking along with us though ! I would appreciate some help on this one. However, the core of this debate was always the Pokedex task, since it's what allows us to make sense of what Arceus says about the part of it definitively. And, well, in Japanese, the task is : アルセウスを託された which can be translated to "Arceus was entrusted (to me)." It's not about a part of him.TL;DR : It looks like the English version alludes to an ability of Arceus to create an identical part of him, but so far, it seems to be absent from the original text. Though, I'd like some help in order to confirm what Arceus actually says in Japanese. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/oAuVrfS
