"Theory: Game freak were planning traditional Diamond and Pearl remakes like they had done in the past, but it evolved into legends arceus."
I had just finished legends arceus and I was blown away by the game. A good Pokémon game for once. However, let’s look at the bigger picture. In the past, Game Freak has given us FRLG, HGSS and ORAS, all remakes follow the same pattern. The games are remakes of past titles built from the ground up on the same engine as the latest title at the time. These remakes also add new features that weren’t present in the original game and they could be considered new titles altogether. However game freak decided to change things up. BDSP was very faithful to the original with a lack of new features or features from Platinum, on top of that it was outsourced to Ilca. Meanwhile game freak worked on legends arceus which is an outright follow up to the Sinnoh games. However I thought about something, What if Game Freak were actually planning traditional Diamond and Pearl remakes it was split into legends arceus and Bdsp. Before you call me a mad man or maniac. I actually have multiple pieces of evidence to back up my claim which I will go overThe Bdsp concept art, the concept art is depicted in an art style more akin to that of SwSh. Many people see this as Ilca having a grander vision for the game. The concept art could also be leftovers from when Bdsp and Legends Arceus were one game. Maybe both Ilca and Game Freak were collaborating. Many of these potential concepts made their way into legends arceus, when many people had big expectations for DP remakes, like new forms for dialga and palkia, a platinum episode, etc… these never made their way in Bdsp to the fans’ disappointment. However they did find their way in Legends arceus. We got new forms for dialga and palkia, we even got a platinum episode in some sort of way as spoiler alert, the post game involves Volo summoning giratina, Perhaps these ideas were part of the traditional Diamond and Pearl remakes gamefreak were developing. Its is a common practice in the gaming industry for these kind of things to happen. Sometimes when a game dev begins work on the next installment of a major franchise, it typically starts off as something more akin to a direct sequel for something that plays it safe. However the final product ends up reinventing the wheel. For example, Twilight Princess originally started off as a sequel to Wind Waker however the poor sales of that game convinced Nintendo to make a more realistic Zelda game. Also Sonic Unleashed actually started off as Sonic Adventure 3, however it evolved into Sonic Unleashed, And then there is Super Mario 128, which originally started as a sequel to SM64 but it became multiple different games including Super Mario Galaxy and Pikmin.I assume that game freak had come up with too many ideas for standard DP remakes so it became legends arceus, realizing that the fans would throw a fit if they didn’t get their DP remakes game freak tasked Ilca with creating simple faithful remakes. What do you guys think of this. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/mZew8YT
