"Do you prefer to catch or be given your pokemon?"
I'm not a completionist, so I don't really do the catch-them-all kind of thing when I play pokemon. I usually go for the pokemon I like or think are cool, and then build my team according to based on gym and opponent.I haven't played a recent generation, the most modern one I have is X which is where my example comes in. My favourite Pokemon is Lucario. Cool design, he's blue, and I'm a dog person. For both White 2 and X, there's a moment early on in the game where you can catch a Riolu in the opening areas. 5% chance rate, but that's nothing when you have too much free time.So if you've played X and Y, you'd know this, I didn't because I went in blind, but you actually get a Lucario given to you later in the story with a gem to mega-evolve it.While I love this, I feel like it sort of cheapens it to know that I was just given this totally awesome pokemon. I feel like I didn't work hard for it.I enjoyed catching, training, and raising my team, building a proper bond as trainer and pokemon. It's different if you're saving a pokemon in the wild like a lot of roms tend to do, you're saving them, and you still need to train them.Maybe I'm a little too sentimental, but I feel like I should be rewarded for my efforts as a trainer. Instead of giving me a lucario with the stone, it should have been, they've seen that I had a lucario, and I get the stone if we have a high enough friendship. That way I can keep my main guy, and actually feel like I deserved the prize. What's your opinion? Do you prefer to catch or be given your team? via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/euT43cE
