"You wonderful people, thank you for giving me a reason to march on!"
The world of Pokemon found me at the age of 12 and it became an integral part of my childhood. Years passed and I got busy preparing myself to become a functioning adult. The responsibilities took over and I found myself caught in the ruthless corporate grind.Few years ago, I recovered my stolen Game Boy, restarted ‘Yellow’, which reignited my love for Pokemon. The nostalgia overpowered all my stress and worries. It reminded me of happy days when things were simple, parents were healthy, friends were around and I was full hopes and aspirations. I started playing all the subsequent games one by one, it was almost like I was living two separate lives, second one in my head where I was this Pokemon trainer, conquering new regions. When in boardroom meetings my colleagues brainstormed about improving profitability, I was debating internally whether to give my Golem Flamethrower or Hyper Beam. Around the same time, I discovered this community and I have gone through every hot post since then.Years passed and the struggle to remain a contributing member of the society took its toll on me. The unbearable anxiety, the perpetual state of desolation lead to an existential crisis and I decided to quit my job and hunker down for a while. It felt like a right decision at that time but as the months progressed, the thought of running out of my savings and being behind the people I knew worsen my anxiety. Several failed attempts to secure an employment did not help.Due to idleness, I was spiraling into the pit of despair when Pokemon came to the rescue once again. To keep myself occupied, I started learning editing to create videos on topics pertaining to mundane/every-day aspects of the Pokemon universe I always found interesting. I was making them for myself initially. But yesterday, I mustered up enough courage to upload them on YouTube channel ‘PokePuran’. I intend to keep making them as long the process sparks joy.I’m essentially gathering information from fascinating threads and incredible comments posted here and there and bringing them under single subject video. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was stealing from this community, perhaps this unnecessarily lengthy post is my way of coming clean.I owe many joyous moments to this community (along with r/pokemonconspiracies) which has given me reasons to smile when I needed it and made my world bearable.
