"[Discussion] A quick look at the bright side"

#PokemonGO: TL;DR - This update may be small, but it takes nothing away from us and gives us a few things we have been asking for. It proves that Niantic is listening to the community - let's be happy about that!By now, we all know that Niantic is in the process of rolling out a small update. This sub as well as r/pokemongo are filled with complaints that it has taken them this long to figure out how to change the egg pattern, that this update gives us nothing, and that they shouldn't have announced it because it doesn't really add any new features. Let's all remember the updates that Niantic quietly rolled out without giving us any information and the community's outcry that they aren't communicating with us. The fact that they are giving us this announcement is a good thing. In fact, this update as a whole is a good thing, so I just want to take a moment to combat all of the pessimism and look at the bright side. The egg thing: I've seen countless posts requesting this. Should we have had it at launch? Maybe. But Niantic rushed to get the game out, did not expect it to be as big as it was, and overlooked a lot of small things. This change may be tiny, and their Professor Willow story may be silly, but it's a QoL change and we should welcome it.The symbol thing: Most of the complaints have been about the eggs, but a few people have commented that this is silly. Depending on how it is displayed, I think it could be very helpful, especially for new players who didn't play a lot of Pokemon prior to Go.The battery thing: Anyone complaining about this is a serial complainer and just wants to hate Niantic. I'll admit, I've seen very little negativity here about this change, but there are still a few people complaining that it would have been helpful last week when they were out and their battery died. It probably would have been! But it will also be helpful next week or next month when you are out and your battery dies. The text thing: Alright, we all like our little running joke with Niantic.I love this sub - I love the research and the helpful nature and the tools it provides. But I hate the Niantic bashing just because this game isn't perfect. It's still a work in progress. Let's appreciate that they are listening, communicating, and continuing to improve! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2empF7t
