"PSA: If you have bad phone signal and you buy something from the store, it may result in you buying it several times."

#PokemonGO: This morning I was in the subway and wanted to buy 50 storage space for Pokémon (for 200 coins). I guess the phone signal was bad and the transaction took some time, but when it finished I saw I had actually bought 150 storage space for Pokémon, and I had unwillingly spent 600 coins. I supposse that the game retries several times when trying to communicate with the server if it receives no response from it, but the server may actually receive several times the same order to buy, and think they are different orders. I just can't believe such a bad programming practice. Just imagine the same thing could happen when you order something online, for example a laptop for $500 and you get a $1500 charge for 3 laptops. Furthermore, it could be easily solved giving each buy order an "order number" so the server knows the order is actually the same. Congratulations Niantic! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2d7UWY5
