"Alakazam"

#PokemonGO: Level 31 here, just evolved my first Alakazam and was lucky to get Psycho Cut / Psychic with about 1620 CP. At that CP level, he is a bit too high for prestiging IMO, I usually keep my squad in the 1,000 - 1,200 level. I wanted to hear from the group, should I power him up to max or keep him where he is at for prestiging? I rarely use psychic attackers so I need to know how to best use him.
