"Training against Exeggutor, CP efficiency"

#PokemonGO: There's a TL;DR section in the middle of this post, right after the first tableIf you've already read my previous threads on CP efficiency for Snorlax, Gyarados, or Vaporeon, skip the intro and go to the next section on Exeggutor.Intro to CP efficiencyThe spreadsheets from Professor_Kikui, qmike, and dneal12 and various infographics you may have seen around here are based on performance at the same level, e.g. how a level 30 Wartortle performs versus a level 30 Vaporeon. They show that Vaporeon is much stronger. For training/prestiging a gym, CP is essential, as the amount of prestige gained depends on the CP of your attackers. For example, a team of 1100 CP attackers against a 2200 CP defender nets 1000 prestige. (See my other thread: 1000 prestige/battle is most time- and potion-efficient)At 1100 CP, Vaporeon is around level 12, while a Wartortle is around level 30. When these two Pokemon are at the same CP, Wartortle is actually slightly stronger. The most important stat for choosing Pokemon to train a gym is CP efficiency, a Pokemon's strength per CP. In the below tables, I've listed CP efficiency as a percentile, relative to the best Pokemon for that defender's moveset other than Chansey. Since Chansey takes so long to battle and can time out, I don't want to skew the percentiles by basing them on her.All calculations assume you dodge only charge attacks. You can adjust this yourself in the spreadsheet. I generated a spreadsheet for Dodge All and the results are not much different.ExeggutorCPE - CP efficiency, calculated as a weighted average against all six of Exeggutor's movesets. Weights are based on the A-F defender ratings from GamePress, e.g. the Confusion movesets have a weight of 6 while the Zen Headbutt movesets have a weight of 5. At least for Exeggutor, weighted average is not much different from simple average.DPS - Damage per second, as a percentile relative to the best performerMax CP - Max CP at level 30The below columns represent the CP efficiency against some of Exeggutor's movesets:Psy - Confusion / PsychicGrass - Confusion / Seed Bomb. Solar Beam, because it's also grass, performs almost identicallyThe Zen Headbutt movesets perform almost identically to the Confusion movesets, as they're both psychic attacks. You can see all the movesets in the spreadsheet.Pro tip: you can sort columns by clicking on the headerpokemonbasicchargecpedpspsygrassmax cpChanseyPoundHyper Beam159%28%167%155%1,259ChanseyPoundPsychic116%20%122%113%1,259ChanseyPoundDazzling Gleam116%20%122%113%1,259ChanseyPoundPsybeam116%20%122%113%1,259ChanseyZen HeadbuttHyper Beam116%20%122%113%1,259MetapodBug BiteStruggle100%45%100%100%359ButterfreeBug BiteBug Buzz98%86%94%100%1,458ParasectBug BiteX-Scissor91%81%88%93%1,420KakunaBug BiteStruggle89%43%83%93%336CaterpieBug BiteStruggle88%50%89%88%336ArticunoFrost BreathBlizzard88%60%88%88%2,514ButterfreeBug BiteSignal Beam86%76%83%88%1,458DewgongFrost BreathBlizzard86%55%96%81%1,624ParasBug BiteX-Scissor85%87%82%87%716DewgongIce ShardBlizzard84%54%94%80%1,624PidgeotWing AttackHurricane84%64%84%84%1,709VenonatBug BiteSignal Beam83%65%77%86%773ScytherFury CutterBug Buzz83%83%79%84%2,112ChanseyZen HeadbuttPsychic83%14%87%80%1,259LaprasFrost BreathBlizzard82%58%92%78%2,555ChanseyZen HeadbuttDazzling Gleam82%14%86%79%1,259VenomothBug BiteBug Buzz82%86%75%85%1,661LaprasIce ShardBlizzard81%57%90%76%2,555ArticunoFrost BreathIce Beam81%55%81%81%2,514JigglypuffPoundBody Slam81%50%85%79%611ParasectFury CutterX-Scissor80%71%77%82%1,420LickitungLickHyper Beam79%44%83%77%1,133NinetalesEmberFire Blast79%58%79%79%1,849CharizardWing AttackFire Blast79%76%76%81%2,302MewPoundBlizzard79%54%88%74%2,649DrowzeePoundPsychic78%35%87%74%850NinetalesFeint AttackFire Blast78%57%78%78%1,849MewPoundFire Blast77%53%86%73%2,649BeedrillBug BiteX-Scissor77%80%71%80%1,523Nidoran FPoison StingSludge Bomb77%59%74%78%631ArcanineFire FangFire Blast77%75%77%76%2,434ParasectBug BiteSolar Beam76%68%73%78%1,420BeedrillBug BiteSludge Bomb76%79%70%79%1,523WigglytuffPoundHyper Beam76%58%80%74%1,634LaprasFrost BreathIce Beam76%53%84%71%2,555MoreTL;DRChansey is highly effective, but will take a very long time to battle. See Pokebattler section below.Metapod is theoretically excellent, but its low Max CP at level 30 of only 359 makes it practically useless.Butterfree is the best practical choice, surprisingly even better than Parasect. The best Parasect moveset for Exeggutor is Bug Bite/X-Scissor, not the Bug Bite/Solar Beam one that you would use for Rhydon or Vaporeon, though that one is a still respectable 76%.Dewgong, Pidgeot, Scyther are also strong choices.Fire types are mediocre. The best one, Ninetales, edges out Charizard by a hair, but Charizard is the better choice due to its higher DPS.SpreadsheetView only, or make a copyIncludes full list of all Pokemon attackers, and more defenders (work in progress).PokebattlerI simulated some battles (spreadsheet) using /u/celandro's Pokebattler.defattattattattattattattattExeggutorButterfreeButterfreeButterfreeParasectParasectWigglytuffWigglytuffChanseyBasicConfusionBug BiteBug BiteBug BiteBug BiteBug BitePoundPoundPoundChargeSeed BombBug BuzzBug BuzzBug BuzzX- ScissorX-ScissorHyper BeamHyper BeamHyper BeamCP240012001200120012001200120012001200HP2948989899191189189375StrategyDodge SpecialsDodge Specials ProDodge AllDodge SpecialsDodge AllDodge SpecialsDodge AllDodge SpecialsWinNoYesYesNoYesNoYesYesDamage received8976629142189150220Att HP remain01327049039155Att HP remain %0%15%30%0%54%0%21%41%Time (seconds)21.721.528.421.730.425.238.172.8Prestige87510001000784100048210001000Prestige/s40.3246.5135.2136.1332.8919.1326.2513.74Prestige/damage9.8313.1616.138.6223.812.556.674.55Power87.5%119.1%172.8%78.4%218.9%48.2%126.9%184.9%Victories*65.257.1510.374.7013.132.897.6111.09Power is a Pokebattler result that "represents how many times a Pokemon would kill another. 250% means it would kill it 2 times and then die half way through the 3rd attempt."Victories*6 multiples Power by 6, and represents how many defenders you would defeat if you had an attacking team of 6. Of course in real life, the defenders will get progressively harder, and you might run into a Snorlax.Exeggutor is a tough defender. Just using the Dodge Specials strategy, most of the attackers except Chansey faint.Losing a battle is not a total failure, as you can bring a team of 6, so I've scaled the prestige earned for those defeats to the Power value. For example, if an attacker is only able to bring down 50% of the defender's HP, it effectively only earns 500 prestige for each of those attackers you use; if you use 2 of the same attacker, then you would defeat the defender and gain 1000 prestige. The prestige/s and prestige/damage calculations take into account that it would take twice as long, and twice as much damage. With Butterfree and Parasect, it is more time efficient to Dodge Specials than Dodge All, though Dodge All is more potion-efficient (they receive less damage, which require fewer potions to heal). But since Dodge All only takes about 8 seconds longer, it may be worth it.Wigglytuff, the best all-purpose attacker (regardless of type), is not nearly as effective as bug types. Curiously, for Wigglytuff, Dodge All is more time-efficient than Dodge Specials.Chansey is the only attacker that can comfortably defeat Exeggutor with Dodge Specials, but will take a long time and is not time- or potion-efficient.CreditsThis is based on /u/vlfph's excellent CP efficiency v4 spreadsheet, using the Target Input sheet. All the credit should go to him; I'm simply repackaging his work in a more digestible format.Further researchI look forward to feedback. I'm currently working on other popular defenders like Lapras, Rhydon, Dragonite. I'll take your comments into consideration before I publish those results.See alsoTraining against Snorlax, CP efficiencyTraining against Gyarados, CP efficiencyTraining against Vaporeon, CP efficiency1000 prestige/battle is most time- and potion-efficientTL;DRThere's a TL;DR section in the middle of this post, right after the first table via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2iZZD6Y
