"[Story] Why I still love this stupid, stupid game"

#PokemonGO: Greetings travelers.I, like many of you, would be lying if I said I wasn't somewhat fed up with this game. I'm missing 13 Pokemon from my gen 1, regional, non-legendary dex alone (to say nothing of gen 2), all 8 gyms within walking distance are constantly level 10 blues, and I can't spin an evolution item to save my life. That being said, I think it's quite important that we don't remain entrenched in our negativity, that we rejoice in our moments of positivity when they do show their bright faces, so here we go.Last night (circa 9:30 pm) I was met with a blessing: someone, somehow, had a taken a gym for Instinct, so naturally I ran the quarter mile to contribute and collect my ten precious coins.Phone: 35%I encounter the usual swinubs, krabbys, and ratatas along the way there and back, but as I'm walking up the steps to my apartmentPhone: Dude, there's a Phanphy downtown! C'mon! You're not that tired.....He's a cutie, so I walk the .5 mi and get him as well as the various pokestops along the way.Phone: 25%Phone: DUUUddddee!!!! There's a Forretress down by the river!1 Cmoooooooon.sigh -start walking-!! The Pokemon has fled !!siiiiiiighI had exactly 6 Pineco candies before that (hopes of evolution consequently dim), so 2 out of breath minutes later I have 9 (sidenote god bless this subreddit for informing me about the 90-second timer). 10:05 pm. With the recent time change, I'm ready for bed.Phone: 20% battery. Enable low Power Mode?Definitely bed time. Also Phone: MY GUY11111 2 OCTILLERY SPOTTED CROSS-RIVERThe river above which freezing cold winds blow, which will most likely cause you to die? Phone: THE VERY SAMEI'm feeling myself; I go for it. Hatch a Stantler (1st) along the way.Phone: 15%1500? No way. He breaks out of the first ultra ball.My first ever Octillery? 1500? No. 2nd, broken. It's 15 degrees and I'm sweating. C'mon. C'mon. 3rd: broken. At this point I can't watch after I throw. I instead look over the bridge, trying to calm myself with the smooth running water below. 4th: broken.A concerned, kind stranger driving by: You're not lookin to jump, are ya? (I hadn't realized the worrying combination of 10:15 on a cold wintery night until just then) 5th: broken.Phone: Warning: 10%.CMON YOU BEAUTIFUL BASTARD.10 ultra+razz combos later, he flees. Would this really be a POGO story without some tragedy? Slightly less feeling myself, I collect the other Oct (400 cp) and a Squirtle that's also kindly decided to show up. Despite the freezing wind, I return home with a warm, strange sense of tranquility in my triumph, something I haven't felt in a long time.Phone (2%): hey, uh... there's a hoppip downtown. Only one more for your Jumpluff, ya knowThat's ok bud. Now we rest. We'll get em tomorrow =)(I'm so sorry if you hate the formatting, I've never done a story on reddit before pls forgive me) via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2mWor4v
