"Is it wrong to snipe a gym that you put most of the work into?"

#PokemonGO: I kinda feel bad about this, but I don't think I should. I was training a gym today from 23k to 30k. After my first wave was defeated at around 28k, I healed up and went to train again. When I went to go back into the gym, somebody was battling, and the gym was up to 29k. I was like come on man! I did all the work. So I waited and watched the gym, then hopped in when it got to 30kIs this wrong? Whenever I go to a gym to train, I always wait a minute to see if anybody is battling it. If someone was training a gym, I'd certainly never jump in and start training too. Unless, of course, I had a mon in there already and wanted to help. I'm going under the assumption here that this player didn't have a mon in there. They just saw a gym that needed less than 2k to prestige and thought they'd try to get in.
