"[Story] My (small) town standing up to spoofers"

#PokemonGO: First of all, sorry for the grammatical errors, not a native English speaker.I think something interesting is happening in our town which might inspire some of you. I also have some (ethical) questions about how we should stand up to spoofers, of which I'd love to have a discussion in the comment section.I live in a small town in the Netherlands of about 150.000 citizens, and was lucky enough we had a pretty active Ingress community which translates in 110 gyms in the city. Unfortunately it does lack spawn points and most of the spawns are commons but hey, we've got gyms right? So when the game launched it was fairly even distributed, although Instinct was lacking behind but that's normal for most places. It was around 45% Mystic, 35% Valor, 20% Instinct. Then around november/december a group of Valor players (4-5 players) started making bot accounts and dominating the city. The spoofing was incredibly brazenly, tearing down level 10 gyms with multiple bot accounts, bubblestratting it up with multiple accounts, shaving the bubblestrat pokemon off. When tearing down one of those gyms they'd immediately attack the gym when you'd place your pokemon. To the point where it was 80% Valor, 15% Mystic, 5% Instinct. So a couple of months ago, Instinct and Mystic started teaming up, targeting the spoofers in the hope of making our town unappealing. To the point where almost every day, groups of players of Instinct and Mystic go through the city, tearing down every Valor gym (with the exception of gyms without spoofers). It really brought back so much fun in the game. Plus tearing down a level 10 gym with all blisseys suddenly becomes easy when you can attack with 5+ people. The obvious downside to this is that legitimate Valor players don't really have a chance to hold gyms. Which is, understandably, pissing them off. One of the most active players in our town (level 39) is in contact with most of the spoofers, who are blaming us now for destroying the fun in the game. Not giving them a chance, cognitive dissonance anyone? Some spoofers said they'll quit spoofing if we'll stop tearing down the Valor gyms, but not the most notorious ones, they're just mocking us for standing in the rain battling their gyms, while it takes them little to no effort at all. We've come to the point where right now we have 45% Mystic, 40% Instinct, 15% Valor. So my question is, how can we make sure we'll give legitimate Valor players a chance without giving the spoofers any "safe" gyms for them to hold. I'm not under the impression that the other teams don't spoof, be in no the the extent that, some players of, Valor is spoofing in our town. Also, some of "our' group has gotten so frustrated they created spoof accounts for themselves, to "screw with the spoofers" but I really dislike this. I was wondering if you guys have any tips of how to go about bringing this up. Because I really think is does an incredible disservice to the "cause" we have to make our town as void of spoofers as we can.TL;DR: We've had a influx of Valor spoofers since November/December, who completely dominated our town, couple of months ago Instinct and Mystic teamed up and we're actively crushing every Valor spoofer gym that pops up. Now we've come to the point where legitimate Valor players can't hold Gyms. Thanks for readingEDIT: made TL;DR fat via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2p54VAj
