"So... any news on shinies?"

#PokemonGO: We've got confirmation of legendaries and pvp coming soon to the game, but what happened to shinies? I find it hard to believe they added all the shiny stuff into the code, animation, pokedex etc for just Magikarp and Gyarados.I think shinies would be a great addition to the game because it would give us a lot of hours of game, even more than a new generation, because you would be encouraged to catch every pokemon you see. Every single pokemon, included commons, would be exciting to catch again. And this excitement will last forever because their rarity is that high that you will never have them all.Do you think they decided to not the release them for some reason? If they used Magikarp as a test, I think the results from the community were definitely positive.Or maybe they are waiting to release them with something bigger?
