"So just to clarify, because I dont think everyone got it: Ultra Sun and Moon are "Third Versions" of Sun and Moon - like Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum."
There was a bit of confusion about this when they said there'd be an "alternate story". I was thinking it'd take place in the future? But nope, it's mostly the same! Perhaps that was a translation mixup? Now, where we get strong evidence that it's actually a Third Version is with 1. the complete lack of PR about the game (cos its literally Sun and Moon) and 2. this page right here:Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon have been powered up with new additions to the story and features of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon! These titles are coming to the Nintendo 3DS family of systems on November 17, 2017.Now onto the blurb:New Pokémon forms have been found appearing in the world of Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon. These forms are reminiscent of the Legendary Pokémon that appeared in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon: Solgaleo, Lunala, and Necrozma... How are these Pokémon related to the Legendary Pokémon that appeared in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon? And let's take a look back to the blurb that was in Platinum version:Another world has emerged in the Sinnoh region... ...A world where time and space are altered! Catch, train, and battle your favorite Pokémon, and discover ancient, mythical Pokémon in this exciting new adventure! And Emerald:The Hoenn region is unstable — Rayquaza has awakened! Your skills as a Trainer will be challenged like they've never been challenged before as you try to maintain balance between Kyogre & Groudon. Prove your skill by earning Badges & gaining access to Battle Frontier — the front line of Pokémon battling that offers a whole new level of competition. Never-before-experienced battles await you!So it seems that when they make third versions of games, they advertise the new features as if they are a completely new adventure. What do I think will be in this game then? A new story element exploring the Solgaleo and Lunala doppelgangers... What I'm wondering is whether they'll appear in the main story or AFTER it, like the Delta episode! There could be some key differences as well, like different trial captains and Elite 4 members (though I feel the E4 were given their types more for diversity than for any sort of lore - if it wasnt for Acerola and Kahili you'd be able to sweep through them with a Poliwrath). Maybe new challengers for title defense! Sadly I dont expect Lillie to be one of these challengers, I expect her story to remain the same because it was the heart and soul of Sun/Moon. What if instead of Faba we were challenged by Wicke? And finally there'll be small additions like the Pikachu farm, extra dialogue in some cutscenes, etc. A better version! Smoother Festival Plaza, hopefully!!!IDK about new pokemon. New forms, yes, but Alola forms? Unlikely - Regional variants are completely different pokemon with the same stats.By the way in the process of making this i found an actual blurb on marshadow like the other pokemon used to get! via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2tdiL6S
