Remember the description of how Kalos Power Plant works - satellites are launched to collect energy from the Sun in the space and beam it to the Poke-Earth. This is part of what we define as a Dyson sphere. This likely means that the Pokemon world, at least in the Mega timeline, have the capability to transition into a Type II civilization that can collect and use the majority of the energy output of its sun, if not already have done so. And Clemont invented it.This also solves the mystery why Ash and his friends can afford the luxuries during his Kalos journey. Clemont is filthy rich, from collecting the royalties of using his (very likely heavily patented) Dyson sphere technology for power generation.
