"Catching a 98% ‘mon is always exciting, but what if the 98% you caught is effectively the same as a 100%?"
#PokemonGO: Hey, everyone! TL;DR Some 98% pokémons with 15/15/14(ATT/DEF/STA) IVs can be effectively the same as a 100% one because of how HP is calculated integrally. Yesterday I was wandering in /r/PokemonGoIVs and /u/KnightQK made a thread about how a few 15/15/14 ‘mons have the exact same HP as their perfect counterpart. I then remembered I had a few of the ones presented in the thread and as it turns out I found a effectively 100% Karp. What happens is that some of PoGo’s mechanics are calculated in integers (what, for instance, gives us break points) and HP is one of them, so even though 14 HP 98%ers have different IVs/CPs than a perfect specimen, the HP will be the same, making the 98% effectively the same as the 100% ‘mon. Of course this isn’t true for every species, as most of them will vary 1 HP from the 98% 15/15/14 to the 100% individual. But, correct if I’m wrong, for species which this is true, it actually doubles your odds of finding a “100%” ‘mon (100% or effectively 100%) and you might actually even have one of these right now.Additionally, /u/lazyboy0337 pointed that 98%ers might even be slightly better than 100%ers because of CP decay. Since they have less CP, it will decay a tiny bit slower giving them a small advantage in gyms. Of course aesthetically they will look a bit “under” the real 100% because CP will be a tiny smaller and, also, seeing the appraisal and/or IV checker reveal a 100% is really something. In light of all that, I’ve calculated every soon to be available ‘mon for which this is true and they are in the following tables: GEN I and II Meta attackers and defendersPokémonLVLATT IVDEF IVSTA IVIV PercentCPHPBlissey3915151497.78%3170411Blissey39151515100.00%3173411Exeggutor3915151497.78%2868160Exeggutor39151515100.00%2875160Gengar3915151497.78%2572105Gengar39151515100.00%2581105Gyarados3915151497.78%3226160Gyarados39151515100.00%3234160Slowbro3915151497.78%2440160Slowbro39151515100.00%2446160Slowking3915151497.78%2440160Slowking39151515100.00%2446160Snorlax3915151497.78%3302262Snorlax39151515100.00%3307262Umbreon3915151497.78%2018160Umbreon39151515100.00%2023160 Other ‘monsPokémonLVLATT IVDEF IVSTA IVIV PercentCPHPArbok3915151497.78%1706105Arbok39151515100.00%1712105Butterfree3915151497.78%1671105Butterfree39151515100.00%1677105Clefable3915151497.78%2314160Clefable39151515100.00%2320160Electrode3915151497.78%1866105Electrode39151515100.00%1873105Kabutops3915151497.78%2472105Kabutops39151515100.00%2481105Lanturn3915151497.78%2043207Lanturn39151515100.00%2047207Nidoking3915151497.78%2345138Nidoking39151515100.00%2352138Parasect3915151497.78%1627105Parasect39151515100.00%1633105Quagsire3915151497.78%1897160Quagsire39151515100.00%1902160Raichu3915151497.78%1988105Raichu39151515100.00%1996105Starmie3915151497.78%2262105Starmie39151515100.00%2270105Wobbuffet3915151497.78%1008309Wobbuffet39151515100.00%1009309 GEN IIIHYPEPokémonLVLATT IVDEF IVSTA IVIV PercentCPHPBeautifly3915151497.78%1545105Beautifly39151515100.00%1551105Breloom3915151497.78%2364105Breloom39151515100.00%2373105Claydol3915151497.78%1750105Claydol39151515100.00%1756105Dustox3915151497.78%1101105Dustox39151515100.00%1105105Exploud3915151497.78%2229174Exploud39151515100.00%2234174Kecleon3915151497.78%1889105Kecleon39151515100.00%1896105Medicham3915151497.78%1252105Medicham39151515100.00%1257105Milotic3915151497.78%2918160Milotic39151515100.00%2925160Minun3915151497.78%1557105Minun39151515100.00%1563105Pelipper3915151497.78%1934105Pelipper39151515100.00%1941105Plusle3915151497.78%1650105Plusle39151515100.00%1657105Salamence3915151497.78%3473160Salamence39151515100.00%3481160Swellow3915151497.78%1716105Swellow39151515100.00%1722105notes:I highlighted some Gen. III ‘mons I think will be useful based on CP and some material by other travellers posted on TSR;I used /u/gzy91 PokemonBox V1.3 to calculate the HPs/CPs;The meta is partially subjective so please don’t hate me if there is a effectively 100% ‘mon you like out of my meta list (e.g., Starmie);Gen. III stats came from PokemonGo Hub Gen. III stats list; I thought this was some useful information worth bringing to The Road. Thank you /u/KnightQK for bringing this up on your thread (if you also think it is useful give the fellow an upvote too!).Finally, I humbly suggest y’all take a look at your 98%ers and check if they are effectively 100% :) via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2xBDkwu
