"Niantic's interpretation of Exclusive"

#PokemonGO: I'm one of only three local players of a group of around 30 not to receive an Exclusive Raid Pass in this latest wave today. I'm a bit salty but nothing more (I'll get one eventually, and am happy for people who've received one), but the experience has caused me to reflect upon the way that Niantic has chosen to interpret Exclusive in the context of EX Raids.EX Raids are held out to be exclusive as not everyone will receive an invitation. Some are lucky some are not. You increase your chances of being lucky by raiding more (but still no guarantees).Who does this benefit? Niantic, as people will attempt more raids to increase their chances of getting a pass. And also the players who receive an invite and manage to catch Mewtwo. But we all play this game independently, each trying to catch em all, and be the best. There are team allegiances for gyms, and group cooperation for raids, but fundamentally we are all individual players.Isn't Niantic' s interpretation of Exclusive here akin to purchasing a main series Pokemon game, only to have the misfortune of discovering that you have a copy of the game where it's not possible to catch a particular legendary, where others who bought the same game can?As a playerbase, wouldn't we be happier if Exclusive was interpreted in the context of the individual - Mewtwo is exclusive as you can only catch one (or hold one in your storage at any one time)? Particularly if, as with the other legendaries, it transpires that we can keep catching the same legendary over and over, making them distinctly less exclusive or special. Perhaps Mewtwo will be more exclusive in this way, but we have already seen (in earlier tests) reports of trainers receiving more than one EX Pass. Not an earth shattering point, nor particularly controversial, but it does surprise me to see people here and elsewhere coming to the defence of the current system. Obviously we're still in the test phase and things may change, but I hope part of this change involves Niantic reflecting upon whether their interpretation of Exclusive could be improved. via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2k3JJgD
