"Well Over 100 People in a Raid in Tokyo.... NOBODY Got into the Raid."
#PokemonGO: I work in Shinjuku, a central downtown area in Tokyo, and wanted to join a Suicune raid after work, but there was only one in the area—at a McDonald's near the station. When I got there, it was a massive mob of people, all PGO players. Obviously over a hundred people, crowds 5-6 people deep in places, going all the way down three streets until they got to the edge of being in range. And every person I saw and asked could not get into the raid. It was literally jammed. Either the local cell traffic was overwhelmed, or Niantic's servers were... nothing but Network Errors, everywhere. I walked along the crowds (only partially pictured in the image—http://ift.tt/2k9xX4v), looking at screens and asking whole groups. Every single last player was stuck. The farthest most people got was the "GO" graphic, which stayed there until a Network error kicked you out. I saw one person who had actually gotten in to a battle... but nothing was happening. They were tapping the screen, but nothing was going on. It was a complete and utter fail.I stuck around trying to get in for 20 or 25 minutes, hoping there was some order of people getting into raids a few at a time, but the more I saw, the more I was convinced that there was nothing that was going to happen. A hundred and whatever people all wasted a raid pass, me included.I don't suppose Niantic cares much about that? via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2xLGiA1
