"Using Accuweather to predict in-game weather - a side-by-side comparison"

#PokemonGO: After noticing a correlation between Accuweather and the in-game weather in Pokemon Go, I began taking screenshots of both apps to see how closely it matched. What I discovered is that Pokemon Go doesn't draw weather data from the main forecast screen in Accuweather, which tends to update in real time, but it does appear to take its in-game weather from Accuweather's "hourly" forecast for the following hour. For example, if at 11.30am the forecast in the "hourly" tab of Accuweather says there will be showers at 12.00pm, the in-game weather will change to showers at that time, and it will stay that way until 1pm, even if Accuweather then updates their current forecast to something different. So, if you look on the main Accuweather screen, you won't necessarily see a forecast that relates to your in-game weather. It's important to note that once a new hour has begun, Accuweather retrospectively updates the "hourly" tab to "actuals" so the weather icons for the hours that have already elapsed change to what the weather was really doing, not what they originally forecast. Here is a link to the screenshots I took over two separate periods in the last couple of days. http://ift.tt/2CgkCMS http://ift.tt/2CjhGzb you can see, the screenshots of the "hourly" forecast tab were taken before the hour started, and the in-game screenshots were taken shortly after the corresponding hour had begun. You can also see that previous hours have been updated to reflect the actual weather at that time and no longer show what was being forecast.I've been following these patterns for several days and, despite a couple of anomalous hours, it's been extremely accurate. You can even see one screenshot sequence where the weather predicted "mostly cloudy with showers" and the game produced cloudy weather with in-map rain. Obviously, it's a very small data set, but I am noticing enough of a pattern to be fairly confident about what I've observed. I believe that using the "hourly" tab on Accuweather to predict what the in-game weather is likely to do over the next couple of hours could be very helpful if you are farming certain Pokemon or planning to visit a nest. A nearby Mudkip nest went crazy during a rainy hour the other day. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2BkOIkQ
