"A neat way Johto was referenced in Gen 3"

Playing through Crystal on the Virtual Console, I noticed a character that I had encountered in a different generation. An NPC that handed out nuggets. In FireRed and LeafGreen, there is a man on the Third Island of the Sevii islands digging for gold in a cave, hoping to strike it rich. He hopes to buy a house in Kanto should he succeed. In the post-game of FR/LG, he does succeed, and celebrates by giving the player a nugget. After this he says: "I don't have any nuggets of wisdom, so that'll have to do!"Flash-forward 3 years later to the events of GSC. Upon beating the Johto gyms and Elite Four, the player can go to a house on Route 2 and find a man who will give you a nugget. After he does, he says a quote that is near identical to the man who struck it rich 3 years ago, saying: "I can't give you any nuggets of wisdom, so that'll have to do!" It's basically the same guy. He went and bought himself a house in Kanto.I think it's pretty cool how GF showed how the life of an obscure NPC changed over 3 years.Bonus: Another thing I noticed was a trainer named Norman on Route 39, the route above Olivine city. Olivine City is the original hometown of the RSE player character and their father, Norman. While obviously not the same character, I got a chuckle all the same. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2GID4Qu
