"Pokemon Switch is a great chance to bring in game mechanics new and old"

So recently I've been thinking a lot about the "Pokemon formula" and whilst I can't think of a mainline game I don't love, I couldn't help but contemplate the options the Switches hardware opens up. Whilst the battle system should imo always remain largely the same (it's what makes Pokémon what it is) I really think there a chance to mix up the gameplay outside of this. You can keep the aesthetic of the main series for 90% of the game still but imagine a cave in the game that plays as a Rogue-Like with the player traversing through and being hit by random encounter battles and trainers as you progress all in a 2d styling, or a stealth style infiltration of the evil team base in which you try not to be seen until you engage in battle a-la Persona 5. These little changes could all lead up to an awesome moment as you hit Victory Road and see the camera pan upwards for some of the classic strength and ice puzzles from generations past. I just thought it was a fun idea to brainstorm with honestly, and thought it would be interesting to see what ideas you guys might have for what side areas could add something new to the Pokemon formula! via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2FFYMDh
