"We need a move rebalance and redistribution"

#PokemonGO: Let me first start by saying that the game is great, and that Niantic has done a great job in keeping the game afloat despite all the glitches and bugs. With that out of the way, and after the dodge-glitch (which is apparently unfixable...), my biggest gripe with this game is the moves and their distribution. It's been so long since the last move rebalance that with each wave of new Pokémon added you feel the gap between moves.I know some moves are supposed to be better than others, and that not all moves should be equally good, but perhaps Niantic should rethink how to distribute these. For instance, we have many cases where one move is a strictly superior version of another one. I won't bother to list them, but there are many instances of this. Fire Blast / Overheat, Psychic / Future Sight, Sludge Wave / Gunk Shot, etc. What is the point of having an option that is strictly inferior to another one? If they want variety, this is not healthy for the game. One-bar low power attacks also need a change!Second, why is Niantic obsessed with certain moves, slapping them on Pokémon whenever they get the chance? See: Air Slash, Steel Wing, Infestation, Charge Beam, Struggle Bug. Take Charge Beam. Its widely distributed, even among non-Electric types. In fact, outside of Raikou and the Pikaclones, all the fully-evolved Electric types from Gen 2 and 3 are stuck with sucky Charge Beam: Lanturn, Manectric and Ampharos, when they can perfectly learn better options. See Thundershock, which is only learned by Jolteon and Raikou (Electabuzz is nowhere to be seen and it evolves next Gen. Guess Electivire will get Charge Beam and Volt Switch).Infestation. It's an OK move, but oh WHY is it given to everything? Same with Steel Wing, which is a great move but only Skarmory gets STAB from it. In fact, some Pokémon are robbed of potential double STAB movesets because they are stuck with these.Dodrio can learn Peck and Quick Attack. But no, it's stuck with Steel Wing and Feint Attack.Cradily could have a good Grass moveset with Bullet Seed and Grass Knot. Nope. Acid and Infestation for you.Aerodactyl has soooo much potential, being able to learn Wing Attack, Sky Attack, Rock Slide and Stone Edge, yet they give him Steel Wing, Bite and the worst possible Charged attacks.Swalot can learn Poison Jab. Someone in their excel sheet saw Infestation, thought it sounded cool and called it a day.Butterfree, Beedrill, Parasect and Venomoth all lost Bug Bite to the inferior Infestation or Struggle Bug. Why? Who knows. In fact, Pinsir and Forretress are the only fully evolved mons who currently get the move. Bug types tend to suck as it is, why handicap them even more? Poor Beautifly, Dustox, Ariados and Masquerain (which should have also got Bug Buzz) never got a chance to get the great Bug Bite. I'm worried that Yanmega will also be stuck with Struggle Bug.Armaldo can learn X-Scissor. Oh, but it's based on an ancient water-dwelling shrimp, so Water Pulse sounds better. Don't even ask about Cross Poison.Donphan can learn Mud Shot, but it only got non-STAB options.Who decided that Suicune did not deserve to get Waterfall and made it relearn Snarl instead? Same with Kabutops. While Ho-Oh doesn't learn any of the existing Fire or Flying Fast attacks, it's begging for one.Why did Porygon2 lose Tackle? It would've had a fun double STAB moveset.Lastly, Ground attacks need an urgent rebalance, Rock needs more options and Fairy needs a fix to its dilemma. Water Pulse should've been rebalanced a long time ago, given its wide distribution. Kingler would be glad.I just don't get how some of these decisions are made. I honestly think that Niantic, outside of a few select cases like Gyarados, doesn't put a lot of thought into movesets and balance, and goes the random way. Or whoever decides movesets doesn't know much about the move mechanics and how moves differ from one another. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2I7dzJo
