"I had to throw out my Pokémon games against my will.."

So, I am from Canada, and I am 24. At the time of this I was 17. I have played pokemon my whole life. On my 6th birthday I got Pokémon Red and a Gameboy colour. Over many years I lost and replaced my pokemon games, but it wasn't so difficult to get older gene rations back then; I was 13 and had a DS and I still bought a copy of Pokémon Blue at a walmart brand new! (Nostalgia; I missed the very old games.)When I was 17, through a series of unfortunate events, I was placed into foster care. However, the family that got certified to foster me was known to me, it was my best friend's parents. This was just a few months before BW came out. I had many games, all the GBA ones, Pearl, and my magnum opus: HeartGold. When my buddy's mom realized I owned and played Pokemon, they forced me to throw out all my games in front of them.Due to Christian beliefs. It shocked me because I had always known they were Christian, and they were not devout or weird about it for the most part. I was allowed to drink on occasion, they turned a blind eye to me and my buddy having girls over, etc. But straight up, when it came to Pokémon the mom generally believed it was sent by demons. Her backstory: her youngest son, 8 years old at the time of me living there, got addicted to playing it a year or two before I lived there, and her church friends told her to exorcism it. I am not exaggerating. Her reasoning was that her son, surrounded by family and I guess a pastor, basically threw out all his Pokémon related shit in a ceremony and "felt so much better after".Fast forward, she didn't make me go through the reins like that, just made me throw them out.Now it's 2018 and I am an adult who controls his own life, since 18.Last year I spent 250$ buying new copies of Platinum, Black, and Black 2, because they are out of print.A copy of HeartGold or Soul Silver (same thing, and it included Poke walker and all, it is legit a fresh copy) costs over 200$.TLDR; It kills me inside that I have to spend hundreds of dollars to recoup games I once owned because a whacky Christian woman thought that demons were alive in them, even though that same woman was 98% rational in any other situation. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2uR0iSq
