"The 'empty' XP problem"

#PokemonGO: A common trend that I've been noticing, basically since last summer, is that Niantic are pushing a lot of 'free' or very easy to get xp onto players, via raids awarding tons of xp, massive sales on lucky eggs, numerous double xp events, and now the current adventure week. Now this isn't a problem in and of itself, but it does raise an interesting question, namely, how do you judge the power level of a player you don't know for raids? To give an extreme example, I recently saw a screenshot of a level 40 account which had 500 pokemon caught and 30kms walked. Obviously this person spent thousands on raid passes, but this problem translates to less extremes too, player level is no longer much of an indication of power of their pokemon. Pre-raids the only real way of gaining level was to grind, which meant that high level = large amount of resources, which usually translated into higher level pokemon (not always, people have different end games), but this is no longer true. Someone who is level 35 and has gotten there by doing tons of raids or gaining a couple of million XP from this event has no resources to invest into pokemon because the method by which they acquired their levels was not one which awarded said resources at the same time. How do you judge how many people, people you don't necessarily know very well from say discords/ facebook/ telegram etc, you will need to take down a raid boss? A Latios can be done with 3, and I've done it with 3, but all 3 need to have good teams, but at the same time I've come close to failing with 6 level 30+ players. If I'm trying to organise a raid somewhere that's not local and therefore I don't know the people the easiest metric to go off for judging how many you need is level, but this is no longer a good indicator. What do you do to decide whether the 4 level 35s you have up for the raid are capable of taking it down? It's not feasible for me to ask for screenshots or counter lists from each person every time, so what's the solution? via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2kvEKmn
