"Why that Open 20 Gifts a Day Limit Counteracts the Idea of Friendship"

#PokemonGO: I currently have 70 in-game friends - which is probably not excessive - but I wake up every morning to 30-40 unopened gifts from the previous day. This causes a number of problems, all of which I believe are against the mere idea of "friendship".You either don't care and open gifts randomly until you reach the limit (probably the minority), or you have to prioritize your friendships. "Work on" friendships with people you are close with, family, players you are most likely to trade with... open eggs from far away places to possible hatch Pokemon to make distance for the trading medal. And the counter party can see if they are considered a "lesser friend" as you let their gift sitting there for many days unopened. While most people are likely mature enough to understand why you don't open their gifts, not everyone is, and some might feel bad about this. Let's say you've met a kid at a raid who wanted to be your friend and they are opening your gift every day but you haven't even touched their first gift... Or today I reached the limit before I could open the gift from one of my sisters and got a call that I messed up our leveling streak. The idea of sending and receiving gifts is to open them and not to be forced to let them rot. This is not going to get better, it's going to get worse as most people with 30+ friends will likely receive more new gifts than they can open a day. Every day. And if they want to be friends with you, the game shouldn't force you to act like "sorry, maybe later, right now I am busy with my more valuable friends."I understand where Niantic is coming from. Items overload, and all that. Items from 20 gifts a day seems reasonable, so I would be perfectly fine with a message like "no more items from gifts will be added to your bag today" or better, gifts 21+ will only work like a normal Pokéstop spin and contain mostly basic items. But I believe we should be able to open all our gifts to acknowledge the idea of Pokémon Go friendships. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2tHc0fG
