My husband is shiny chaining right now for ponyta and figured this out. Lures are based on steps, so once you catch your 31, you can put on a lure and just sit and wait. The lure won't run out until you take the steps. According to serebii too, it slightly increases the shiny spawn rate. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2OWc9nd
