"How would you feel if the Elite Four/Champions were only loosely based on their type/theme?"

It's always been kinda weird how Elite Fours have types just like Gym Leaders, I mean the champion of the region having Water type pokemon(disregarding being a middle finger to fire type trainers), sharing a type and theme with low level gym leaders like Misty and Cress is a bit weird for the official leaders of competitive pokemon battling.How would you feel if the Elite Four had pokemon based on their personalities and backstory, being used more to flesh out their characters instead of just a type mandated team(with a few oddballs like Agatha's Arbok)?Imo it would go a long ways to improving the worldbuilding and inner continuity of the characters, making them more interesting and better suited as characters and people as well. How cool would it be if Phoebe used a Ninetails, Dusclops, Banette, Chimecho, and Dustox, tying into her past at Mt. Pyre and being an apparent floral dancer?What if Agatha had a Gengar, Marowak, Crobat, Vileplume, and Clefable(or if you allowed for slight regional stretching, Togekiss)? Pokemon she's traveled and lived with for long times, matching both her being an elder, but also a more hag like grandma figure, and tying her to Lavender Town?It could stretch even further with E4 members in the postgame with National Dex, where we get to see their personal team they've been with and gotten so skilled with, having very high leveled pokemon from a variety of regions(even if biased towards one of them)Lorelei, for example, spends a lot of time in the Sevii Isles and Kanto, and likes colder regions more. Her high level personal team could likely be her Lapras, a Mamoswine and Kingdra from other local places she frequents, and Altaria, Absol, and Froslass from her travels around the world(or just swarms/events where she met pokemon from) via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2Rr8BLA
