"Adventure week is Cranidos Week"

#PokemonGO: There are only a handful of Gen 4 Pokemon that are relevant to the Pokemon Go raid meta, and Rampardos is one of them. It only does one thing: Rock-type damage, but it does it really well thanks to its 295 Attack stat, which surpasses that of Rayquaza, and its extremely efficient Smack Down/Rock Slide moveset. Everything Rock Tyranitar does, Rampardos does about 20% faster, and while it doesn't have Tyranitar's bulk, it's not as fragile as Gengar and can reliably dish out some damage before it faints.Rampardos is a top counter for most fire-types and flying-types, including Articuno, Moltres, Ho-oh, Entei and Gen V's Tornadus. For raiders, this Pokemon is probably more relevant than Garchomp, which does dragon and ground things well, but doesn't do dragon quite as well as Rayquaza and doesn't do ground quite as well as Groudon. Rampardos throws rocks better than anything, and better than anything ever will.Historically, Cranidos, Rampardos's pre-evolution, has been so rare that many players may not even be aware of this Pokemon or the fact that it is meta-relevant. It hardly ever spawns, and it was a very low percentage hatch from 10km eggs. However, this week, it is a relatively common drop from 2km eggs, and it is also available as a research reward for the Adventure Week quest to spin 25 stops. This quest is a real pain, but the reward is extremely good, so you should be trying to do as many of them as possible. Since it is one of the best and most coveted Pokemon in the current generation, Cranidos may be a candidate for a future community day, but Niantic has preferred three-stage Pokemon in the past, with the exceptions of Pikachu and Eevee. Also, research reward Pokemon have egg/raid quality IVs, which means you're more likely to get a very strong one from these quests than you might from wild catches. And, while the quest isn't the most common, it's not as rare as something like Lapras, so it's very feasible to get a good Cranidos with some dedication. This is the first time this Pokemon has been available as a research reward and it is not clear that it will be available again anytime soon. If you have an active Discord community, your local players should try to share the locations of stops with Rampardos quests, so you can all do as many as possible. Don't get distracted by shiny rocks. This is the real star of this event, and this is what you should be chasing. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://bit.ly/2IiQIew
