"If professional reviewers of this game are disappointed in it, I implore them to give the most honest scores and feedback possible."

For quite a while, I was in the camp that was frustrated by the absurd creative direction Game Freak has taken with this game, but ultimately decided it didn’t bother me enough to NOT buy it, because I knew my one missing sale wouldn’t be enough to actually influence this company for the better.Recently, however, with all the news coming from leakers and streamers, my biggest fear is that I’ll give GF my money and buy the game, only to play through it with a straight face and come out of it not having had any fun. Fun is the whole point of video games, after all. And so, I may actually not buy it! I have very little motivation when it comes to boycotting games like this, because I just want to play the game and enjoy myself despite the greater purpose behind abstaining. But this time, I don’t even expect to enjoy myself. So what’s the point? I know it might not change GF’s perspective, but I have better things to do with my time.Though my absent $60 from Game Freak’s pocket still may not change anything, I do have one last hope for a better future for Pokémon; and it ain’t a lack of sales (because, if we’re being honest with ourselves, this game is going to sell very well, as all Pokémon games do, despite our best efforts). And so my main point: if the game actually does turn out to be as disappointing as it seems it will, my biggest hope is that profesional reviews reflect that. Sales obviously are the primary way to tell Game Freak to eat it, but if the game reviews at significantly worse than other Pokémon games, it will be a sign to GF and to potential buyers that this is a dud.If you or anybody you know is in line to review this game when it comes out, do the right thing and BE HONEST. Don’t let the fear of a ding to your reputation for going against the grain stop you from being a proper representative for the people who care most about Pokémon: those who play and love the games. Let everyone know what about it is disappointing! It may be our last hope for this franchise that we all love so much to actually see proper treatment again.Sorry for the essay - maybe I should do my thesis on Dexit.tl;dr Yes, poor sales could right the ship, but bad reviews might too. If the loudest voices in the community (reviewers) are saying the same things we are about their disappointments, Game Freak may not be able to ignore THEM, like they’ve ignored us. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2K9Z9dV
