"The japanese lore reason and the Brittish lore reason on why this new pokemon X has so complicated evolution method."
Because this is technically spoilers and games haven't been out for two weeks I had make the tittle like thatWe have all met the new galarian Yamask and pondered why it has such a needlesly complicated way to evolution. It needs to take 49 hp damage and when it is in party player needs to pass under a stone arch in the wild area. The numbers 4 and 9 are unlucky numbers in japanese culture. Number 4 (shi) sounds like the word for death (shi). number 9 (ku) sounds like word for agony (ku). Number 49 sounds like the word like the word Shiku "be runned over/die in agony". Naturally like westerners avoid the number 13, japanese avoid the numbers 4 and 9.The stone arch player must go under has a particular shape. Stone structures like that are called "Dolmen". They are ancient places humans build that are associated with death, magic and funerals. Many think they are ancient tombs. So you take your Yamask full of misfortune/dying in pain to a burial place/tomb to get its new sarcophagus.Like sargophagi were made describe how the pharaohs looked like while alive, Runestones, which Runerigus is based on, usually depicted stories about the person when he was alive. Also TM49 is known as "sand tomb" which runerigus can learn, but Cofagrigus can'tDamn, this thing is quickly becoming my new favorite galar pokemon.Edit: thank you for u/luca998. Number 49 is yonjuukyuu in japan. But japanese do avoid combining the numbers 4 and 9 on streets and license plates since they pronounce together shiku. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2KRhQ6K
