"Sword & Shield is the first time the story in a Pokemon game left me dumbfounded"

I know the story in Pokemon has never been exceptionally good but the entire climax with Rose that happens during the finals felt so incredibly rushed and nonsensical. To get this straight:-In a 1000 years Eternatus will destroy Galar-Rose wants to prevend this and seeks out Leon. Leon wants to continue the matches and Rose can't wait a single day for something that happens in an entire millenium away.-Rose awakens the very Pokemon that will cause this disaster. Said Pokemon also was this whole time in the power plant in Hammerlocke(?) in an asleep (?) state-Eternatus runs off and powers itself up (I seriously didn't grasp if Rose planned this to happen or got overwhelmed by it)-You battle him and he seems a bit guilty? And then casually goes on about how fun Pokemon battling is-You battle and catch Eternatus-Days pass and optional, random NPCs mention Rose turned himself inI went through the story climax in a single session late at night but I had no idea what the fuck was going on. Feel free to correct me and if I missed or overread some crucial line but Rose's entire finale was a trainwreck of a fever dream. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2OF62qx
