"Pokemon games get away with doing shady things simply because of the brand name "Pokemon""

Every single generation there are certain Pokemon that are unobtainable in each game. For example, Zacian is unobtainable in Pokemon Shield. Unless you are willing to part ways with your Zamazenta, Zacian is near impossible to trade for.Imagine if another company did this. Imagine if 2 Star Wars Battlefront games came out, one where Vader was an exclusive character, and one where Kylo was an exclusive character. There would be major backlash. The fact that Pokemon releases two versions of the same game is pretty shady. Just because it has been this way for decades doesn't mean we should lower our standards and expectations for a full price game.Edit: For those that say "trading is one of the main premises of Pokemon", while I do agree with that, the trading in Pokemon is broken. You can't get a Zamazanta without giving up a Zacian and vice versa. The only way to do so is to buy the other version and play through the game again, or transfer your pokemon to home and redo the game. None of these are fair solutions, especially to an 8 year old, the target audience of these games, who just wants to have the 2 newest and coolest pokemon on their team.Edit 2: Another thing I am hearing a lot about is how "it is fair to expect the player to replay the game to get the other box art legend". This is ridiculous. There is no other game in existence that would have this aspect without backlash. Pokemon Sword takes about 20 hours to beat (let's say 15 hours since 2nd playthrough). If you honestly think it's reasonable to expect players to play through the exact same game, for 15 hours, just to get a Pokemon that should already be obtainable in their first playthrough, then please reevaluate your opinion and see it from the perspective of a casual gamer. An easy solution is to put the other box art legend in the postgame. I would make it very difficult to obtain, to keep the rarity aspect of these pokemon. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/3fRk1nQ
