"With new Pokemon to come, here's a battery saving guide! (Android)"

#PokemonGO: I made a video for my YouTube channel, so had to type all this. Here's the link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeyCD5X4NSgSo I had written everything down, cause captions and my slurred speech. Here it is -BEST APPS TO SAVE BATTERY ON POKEMON GOAnyone who plays Pokemon Go extensively knows that the game simply wants to gulp down the phone's battery juice.Running your GPS, mobile data and the app itself are enough to cause your phone a burn out.Bluetooth is also to be added if you were lucky enough to get your hands on the Go Plus. After doing my homework on the Play Store, I found out that there are a few apps that would optimize the way my phone functions, saving battery instead. But before I do that, here are a few small tips to get a tiny bit moreNumber 1A pure black wallpaper easily saves on battery, especially on an AMOLED ScreenNumber 2Turn off haptic feedback wherever possible, while blocking notifications from apps you'd not use much.Number 3If you do not use the voice-controlled "Okay Google" command for the Google App, feel free to turn it off.Saves a lot of unnecessary processes hence saving battery.Go to the Google App, touch the Menu icon on the top left of your screen, go to Settings, then Voice, then 'OK Google' detection. Then you can decide when you want it to listen; I suggest turning it off.Alright, so moving on, let me tell you about the device I am usingIt's a Nexus 6P running Android Nougat, I use 2G instead of LTE cause it's cheap and serves the purpose well.Apart from that, there are a decent number of apps. Not too many, not too less.First on the list is NetGuard - no-root firewall by Marcel BokhorstWhat it does is simply blocks access to the internet for some apps which mean they can't run in the background, hogging both data and battery. This also means you are far away from pesky notifications most of the time.I am quite sure you'd not want any disturbances on your way to becoming a Pokemon Master.Or at least hitting level 40.The simplicity to use and the effectiveness it has is a win win for me.You can also get the Pro Version for analytics and other info, but the app serves the purpose as it is.Falling in at number 2 is Battery Extender GO by Rex Software Inc.As the name cheekily suggests, this app was developed to co-exist and work with Pokemon Go to save batterySince you cannot play the game with your screen locked, this app acts as a smart screen, turning the screen off at the user's command while still keeping the game active. As it is pretty apparent, this saves you battery and also makes sure you don't have all your attention on the screen.I suggest you turn off In Game Music & Sound Effects, keep Vibration on for Pokemon Go and let the Battery Extender have it's floating icon. This way, you can turn the screen on or off with a single tap whereas the game's vibration will alert you when a Pokemon spawns. The only cons of this app are that if you lose internet connectivity, you might end up walking unaware and lose distance you covered.Talking about distance, you could miss the 'Oh?' animation when a Pokemon is about to hatch from an egg. What I do is walk 200 steps and check how the game is doing. Also be aware of the Pokestops, since you could just walk past them since your screen was off.Third and final app on the list is PixOff by UrySoftAn app name that eerily sounds like what you'd tell an annoying person, PixOff massively saves your phone's battery by turning off pixelsThis works best on devices with an AMOLED screen, while offering cover for some with an LCD displayThe app applies a filter that turns off pixels and the filter can be customied depending on how it appeals to you visually. The only downside to this app is that even when you are done using it, the notification window on top refuses to go unless you Force Stop the app.And oh, also, if you tend to record gameplay or take screenshots, the turned off pixels will end up corrupting your video or photo. So simply disable the filter and you will be good to go.These three apps aid me a lot when playing Pokemon Go, giving me at least 45 minutes of extended play time, which is massive and helps me amass few more XPIf you want to be up to date on Pokemon Go related news, tips and trivia, be sure to follow The Silph Road on Reddit and visit their site for a huge chunk of dataThey have everything from IV Calculators to Base Stats to info on Pokemon nests worldwideFeel free to check them out if you haven't; I am sure it will guide you wellTo be clear, this video is not sponsored by any parties mentioned above and is solely produced by me to help fellow trainers! If you have any questions to ask, feel free to drop in a comment, I will surely help. Here comes the generic 'hit like and subscribe' from me and if you do so, also be kind enough to me to ring the bell to get notified about new uploadsWe do videos on other topics as well, which may be of your interest and we are ever present on other social media sites in case you pay us a visit there. Thanks for your time, have a great day ahead!PS - This was written for my video, has a bit of humour and sarcasm, and is supposed to tend to those who are mostly new to Pokemon GO. Please don't bash me for this. I will take this down if asked to. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2gAIwtC
