"Pros and Cons of playing on a Small Pacific Island"

#PokemonGO: Pros and Cons of playing on a Small Pacific IslandFirst of all, I live I New Caledonia. You don't know where it is? New Caledonia is a special collectivity of France located in the southwest Pacific Ocean, 1,210 km (750 mi) east of Australia. We speak French, English and Japanese + Native languages.Pokemon Go launched in July 24th (the same date as France). Think we depend on France ? The answer is no. We do not have any Mr. Mime neither Kangashkan (We could have but we don't), no Heracross, no Unown, no regional Pokemon at all except... CORSOLA. Why is it great to have Corsola ? Because it definitely represents our little island and it's barrier reef. The New Caledonian barrier reef is located in New Caledonia in the South Pacific, and is the second-longest double-barrier coral reef in the world, after the Belize Barrier Reef. The capital of the island is called "Nouméa", the Greater Nouméa urban area have a total population of 200.000 inhabitants.Important data:75 Gyms200+ PokestopsLots of Water type Pokemon.Myself * Team: Valor * Level: 34 (currently) * Pokedex: 225/232 * Playing since: July 24th 2016.Pros:*1. The stunning beauty of our natural surroundings reduces stress and allow us to go catch them all very easily and safely. Living near the beach is absolutely amazing. Catching a Pokemon while the sun set is something incredibly beautiful to do.*2. It is a great place for walking and hiking. We get lots of exercise daily because we can walk everywhere. Island living is easy to navigate. The hunt for Pokemon added to all of this make it definitely a great experience for all of us here.*3. Living on a island also allow us to be more close to nature. We respect what the earth gives us. While hunting Pokemon, we usually collect all the garbage people let behind them. So it's always a win-win: catching Pokemon and cleaning the city.*4. CORSOLA EVERYWHERE. Corsola is definitely everywhere. We finally have an exclusive Pokemon (Luck?) But it makes everyone happy here to see that Corsola (Kinda an emblem of New Caledonia) is catchable in our island (and not in Sydney!)*5. We also can go hunting or fishing and stop a moment to catch some Water type Pokemon. Isn't it great ?*6. It is cheaper. We do not have to have a car or to pay too much gas to go catch them all or to spin all the pokestop. We can walk around and do the entire city in 1 or 2 hours. No long distance, no need to take the car and waste money in gas.*7. Lots of different nest. Our island (mostly the capital city) is well known for it's diversity of fauna and flora. I'm probably the only one using TSR here, but I've been doing some searches and I've found lots of nest. For example: Pikachu nest, Onix nest, Dratini nest (Biome?).. and more recently Chikorita, Totodile and a Scyther nest.and probably many mores pros...Cons:*1. Lots of spoofers. Here the main teams are Mystic and Valor, Instinct is just a bunch of spoofers (They all have +6 account each and are mostly named "Yell0w....". Being in a small community isn't really good when you know who cheats and who take down the gym you have put all your efforts into.*2. No regional exlcusive (except Corsola). Unfortunately we do not have Kangashkan (and we are not even that far away from Australia). No Heracross, no Mr. Mime, no Farfetch'd, no Tauros*3. The game exacerbate symptoms for people who have difficulty separating reality and fantasy. The game blends elements of reality with virtual/fantasy elements, so it can be confusing for those who already have difficulty distinguishing out what is real or not, specifically people who may have psychotic symptoms, some people here thinks they are GODS because they can take down any gym easily. They even threaten other players when they take down gyms where they are. It's really sad. Really really sad.*4. The weather is so great, almost 32 or 33° (Celsius) everyday, than playing Pokemon Go outside require us to take care of our phones (they become very warm easily). And not even Lapras is worth a dead phone.*5. The whole country isn't full of Gyms and Pokestops. If you go further than the capital you will literally find NOTHING. Not even a single one Pokemon except if you use an incense.Hope you enjoyed the story/experience. Sorry in advance if any grammatical errors. When trading will be available, I'd be glad to trade some Corsola from their original biome!PS: Can someone tell me why we do not have either Kangashkan and Farfetched when we are almost close to both Australia and Asia ? via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2mB3g4x
