"I feel like an idiot for hating on Generation 5 for so long"

When Black and White was being revealed and the Pokémon were leaked I thought that most of the Pokémon were cool and that the legendaries and tepig were so lame. I was still very much excited for the game though. This would be my first new generation since I started playing in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Since then I had played every Pokémon game from every generation. Anyways when the games dropped I eagerly played them and beat them in a little under a week but after that I dropped playing them all together. Around this time I was slowly becoming less interested in Pokémon and starting to get into the FPS community and found myself getting really into xbox and multiplayer gaming. I didn't really give the games much of a chance but I can remember thinking that the region felt too linear and that the post game sucked. I also started believing in the hive mind mentality on the internet that all the new Pokémon were lame and I was annoyed you couldn't get any Pokémon from the older regions. Needless to say I didn't play Pokémon until B/W 2 were released. I remember beating this one fairly quick and then putting it down as well but remember loving the larger pokedex and I felt the new story made the region less linear. But still I felt it was the weakest in the Pokémon series. Fast forward about 6 or 7 years and I came into possession of a Pokémon black cartridge and I gave it another whirl. Man this game is bringing back a joy in Pokémon that I haven't felt since originally playing. Don't get me wrong I've played every new release since it's came out but only just to beat it and sped through the games. Recently however I did finish both sun and moon and enjoyed them. Anyways it felt like restarting my Pokémon journey from the beginning again and it feels so fresh. I love the idea of 150 brand new Pokémon that you can only catch in this game. Making it so your team is full of no old Pokémon. It really was a risky decision by Gamefreak not to rely on any nostalgia and try something new. I love the animations and graphics in this games. I'm probably in the minority but I really did love the generation 5 sprites and moving Pokémon. I felt this is how Pokémon should look like. I don't really like the 3D models and worlds it doesn't feel the same to me. Nothing of this post probably means anything but I just want to say I'm sorry haha for being a person to hate on this generation and now it's quickly one of my favorites right up there with generation 4 in my opinion and best games in the series.
